Hey, look, it's Garfield!
Gazorpazorpfield
"I'm gonna go eat the shit out of my owner Jon's asshole" has been one of my vocal stims for 20 years
When did Garfield become the character that completely mediocre and unfunny millennial internet funnymen used as a punching bag? It feels like for a while every single insincere creator with “I have no original thoughts but I do have 10 billion layers of irony” humor took a stab at him.
>>154595319probably because garfield is incredibly popular despite being fairly mediocre to unfunny.
>>154595319We all liked it as kids (Scholastic book fares always sold collections of it) but later realized it's repetitive and lazy. Those who delved deeper and read the early comics hated it more because they also realized it used to be much funnier before degenerating into the same few gags over and over. Also Davis gave up even making it himself and just running a studio of ghost artists.
>>154595319>>154596306>>154596370Why did Garfield become a lazy thing made by ghost artists though?
If this was an official comic from this year, what would they have him be saying?
>>154596306I like garfield
>>154597640Something about cannibalism.
>>154595319>>154596306it’s the same joke as Shrek
>>154597640"Men and women both have penises now. I can't win!"
>>154594797God, I want to fuck Nermal! <3 <3 <3
>>154595319Garfield is to comics what Family Guy is to cartoons.
>>154596306Not just that but he was like the anti Calvin and Hobbes - one of the earliest merchandised to shit and back comic/cartoon characters. Even if you didn't care about him at all you likely saw him all over the place on bumpers stickers and in the form of those suction cup plushies
