>Just go indie, bro>Indie animation is the futureI can't believe I fell for the indie meme, this shit sucks and isn't worth doingI'm on episode 3 of my show and it's fucking awful, only thing that has improved was the animation. Truth is that animated shows can only live up to their potential in a full fledged studio environment. I have to do nearly everything aside from voices myself but I'm not an editor, writer, or musician so it's all trash. I'd go the webcomic route but despite being far easier it's even more depressing I'd kill for studio resources and the ability to have an actual writers room like a real show. How the fuck were people convinced indie could replace the industry? I get the industry sucks now but from the 90s-2010s it was absolutely better Watching my episodes is fucking embarrassing and I've been making animated videos for 7 years>Inb4: you just want others to make it for youThat's literally how cartoon shows are made. A big collaborative effort, one man bands are rarely goodDoes anyone here ACTUALLY write, as in, writes animated scripts/shorts and is willing to collaborate?
>>154595631Unironically use ai for script helpEveryone is doing it
>>154595631>Just go indie, broYeah no. Never do this if you have a way into the industry. If you are indie, you are in it for the love of the game, and are ready to roll the dice on if anyone cares. You need to be a total dumb ass if you are in it for the money.
>>154595659I said nothing about money, I don't care about making money. I have an actual job
>>154595631Glitch and viv led people to believe that indie was actually good
>>154595631Animated shows are only good in an industry environment. People can talk shit about Hollywood all they want but there has not been a single indie show that actually surpasses industry quality and this includes Glitch
>>154595631Make your cartoon almost entirely visually driven, don't bother with clever wordplay or dialogue.
>>154595651Unironicly drink bleach and ammonia
>>154595734Not an argument
>>154595666Does that job involve many short-term dopamine loops?
>>154595721Make it silent/speechlessIt's deaf- and foreigner-friendly
>>154595631>I'm not an editor, writer, or musician so it's all trash.Have you ever actually bothered asking for help? There’s a whole page on Newgrounds where you can do exactly that.
>>154595631I can write and edit. What's your pitch?
>>154595651>Everyone is doing itThieves think everyone steals.
>>154595631Actual writers are all in California trying to make it big and will get upset at the thought of working on an online project
>>154597221Are there no hobbyist screenwriters? Feels like everyone who calls themselves a writer just make fanfiction and have no idea how to format a script
>>154595631Post your work.
>>154595678Its been a funny and enlightening ride, let me tell you.
>>154595651This desu. I am in a similar boat as OP and use chatgpt to help tighten up dialogue and story beats. I can't seem to be able to hire any other writers because they all want near union rates and the ones who don't can't even spell.
>>154595631You're letting the current "indie boom" skew your expectations. You should look at shit like South Park's Spirit of Christmas shorts of Frog Baseball for a more realistic perspective. Those were rough even for their time
>>154595631Gonna be real with you broMarket is oversaturatedGo for broke and make a 70s super robot tribute or something with unfulfilled nicheAnd dont make the hot girl a protagMake her the co protagPremise is extremely important
>>154595651Tasteless faggot detected
>>154597234Screenwriting is not a hobby like comics. Writers studying screenwriting are doing it with the intention to sell scripts or make their own films. When they are good enough to sell work they are trying to do that, not self-promote. You find them in places people learn and practice screenwriting.
>Does anyone here ACTUALLY write, as in, writes animated scripts/shortsI kind of do
>>154597234I find script formatting very barebones and useless. It doesn't include the directing aspect like how to say the line, what sound effect and music to play, how to time it, etc.>>154595631You can always make Epithet Erased/South Park shows. Worked for Tamers and his copycats albeit the faggot still refuses to use quality voice acting, the one thing Epithet Erased and South Park was known for. You have to make up for with something for the lack of other things.

Sex
Every few week to a month I see the same guy make the same bait thread about failing to make his indie pilot.Get a life.
>>154595631tough shit
>>154595651I actually tried using AI, and the problem with AI is that it's too censored so it can't do anything too spicy and is very tame with fight scenes, and it kind of drives to the mean meaning the writing loses your specific voice. The best I can think of is using it as a really advancedspell checker
>>154595631Do you have a dad or uncle in the industry? No? Then you need a portfolio. This is what you are creating rn.
>I'd kill for studio resources and the ability to have an actual writers room like a real show. If you were an actual genuine creative you would never say this. The ability to make something entirely by yourself would be a joy in itself. If you want to just be a animation dogsbody you can go the Japanese/Korean industry and earn pennies for inbetween work there.
>>154595631Dont use Day Job for this cuz his project is getting finished
>>154597469>make a 70s super robot tributeDon't do this. Some niches are unfulfilled for a reason.
>>154597837Go ask the AI to un-hurt your feelings, Ranjeesh.
>>154598637> If you want to just be a animation dogsbody you can go the Japanese/Korean industry and earn pennies for inbetween work there.Tbh animation was in a healthier place when animators started by doing inbetweens and moved from there.
>>154595631Indie doesn't mean solo. There are TONS of talented people out thereyou can get help from pro-bono or for a share of any money you make from it. You can animate and draw, that's good. There's also a ton of free resources and talent on the web...what's left of the web that is..to get help from and build your show with. The industry is mostly fucked now with only nep hires, certain people, and the wealthy able to make it. There is a small organic indie scnene out there and it's growing. It only needs a real place to showcase their work and advertise their efforts. There also needs to be something else. Something important. Brutally honest critics and the ability to self examine and see if what they are doing is good or at least has and an audience.
>>154595631Are you the day job guy or is your pic unrelated
>>154595631why is your obvious self-insert banging the only two girl characters in this show, Paul?
>>154598687I thought it was already finished. Is there more coming?
>>154598687I think australians have an unfair advantage in terms of animation nowadays
>>154600488Why wouldn't you?
>>154597846Yes...
>>154595631>one man bands are rarely good They're good if you know how to work within limitations and have built up the skill to wear many hats. The Day Job guy is one such indie creator who's able to keep making more of his cartoon because he has the drive AND the know-how, and he's not the only one
