What are your thoughts on Disneytoon Studios?
they have their strengths
>>154600726Had Lasseter not taken over, they would've improved DRASTICALLY from their earlier sequel output. A lot of the "infamous" DisneyToons were either backdoor TV pilots or TV episodes stitched together to make an anthology.
>>154600726I detest that RAT
>>154602891Fag
>>154602102Their mid-to-late 2000s output is definitely better, maybe Dumbo 2 would have been decent.
>>154600726>thoughts on Disneytoon Studios? Their direct-to-DVD sequels range from embarrassments to surprisingly decent follow-ups that sit nicely alongside their theatrical kin. I remember the Aladdin sequels being the strongest
>>154602891Don't
>>154600726They made a lot of shitty movies that I had to watch when I was babysitting
did they ever produce anything original
>>154605837Weirdly? Most of their Pooh films. (If by "original" you mean "original stories that aren't necessarily sequels/prequels".) I believe only one of them was repackaged New Adventures episodes.
>>154605837The Planes movies... sorta
>>154605750>had to GOT to, more like!
>>154606524Did they fuck
I liked the Tinkerbell movies
>>154600726They made a Goofy Movie, so that's saying something.
They made sequel slop but people had no idea how good they had it when this was the “worst thing” Disney was doing. They had no idea that in 15 years time, the main studio would also become a sequel factory, 2D is completely dead, these sorta-kinda-interesting sequels were replaced with live-action remakes, Pixar sucks now, Disney stopped making stuff that rivaled peak Pixar, and now they do absolutely nothing with their old IPs that would otherwise have gotten a dumb little sequel film. Now all the 2D animators are dead or retired, and we’re stuck with a 1:1 remake of Moana that destroys anything decent about the original, which wasn’t even that good to begin with.
>>154607092Bob Iger just managed to upsell cynical cashgrab slop from DVD bargain bins at Walmart to full theatrical releases at movie theater ticket prices. It's kind of brilliant in a evil way.
>>154607092Least the Moana LA movie is on track to bomb, cost $250mil to make, and thus far on a WEEKEND has only made $18. Toys arn't doing so hot either, my Target's Disney section still has the toys there, kids aren't touching them.
>>154607321Very evil, very evil indeed
>>154600726What happened to the Tinker Bell movies? They were actually enjoyable. I thought they had a long-term plan for her and now it all seems forgotten.
>>154606725Me too! >>154609872Never forget, they took this from us. Tink was going to go to a tinkering school in London and get all steampunky. I think there was also supposed to be a rock and roll band one, but we missed that too.
