Alright /co/, I'm gonna be real. This guy literally only exists because Marvel thought it'd be cool to have a story where someone stops the Juggernaut but couldn't think of who could do such a thing. How do you actually make this guy an interesting/compelling villain?
I really like the concept of "all repressed evil just turn into something and it wants revenge".It really makes you think that choosing good is not enough. Our inherent flaws, our unavoidable proclivity for evil, in itself harms the world and ourselves. True cleansing of the world would destroy humanity altogether. Only Christ could save us.

Needs more Xavier influence in the design. And then have his origin come about as more of the result of Magneto and Xavier selfishly fighting each other instead of for mutants. So the character ends up as the worst elements of the 2 combined.

He then mutates the helmet into something more befitting himself and puts it on. Before he leaves. Slowly. Not a single person there powerful enough to stop him. He seemingly teleports heading into space . An A bright explosion that brightens the air above america to the point that it looks like a local supernova occurs. Asteroid M or what's left of it falls to the earth into multiple places. He was nothing but a string of aura moments and "Oh shit xavier is coming" scenes. Till they realized he was broken as fuck and needed him to carry the idiot ball rather then write a satisfying conclusion.
in a sense onslaught is kinda like a proto-batkekhero and his arch-enemy fuse into an unstoppable villain who just kinda wants to kill everything

Just came up with an idea. I likethe angle of evil being made manifest. However the Xavier angle always bothered me and the method of creating him is a bit weird.What if it was just Magneto being corrupted by merging with something like Apocalypse's armor and the techno-organic virus? That way it keeps its look and has a simpler origin.

The seeds of Onslaught already exist in the cartoon, with the Phoenix Saga having Xavier lose complete control, and his ID came out to terrorize his X-Men. They can easily magnify it after all the events of season 2 of 97, with him not only losing control this time but having a mental breakdown trying to replace Magneto now that he's died.
The interesting part to me is that Xavier having a bad side isn't exactly something that was a new concept before Onslaught.Claremont had the X-Men fight Xavier's repressed dark side, Dark Xavier, while Mantlo had him appear as The Entity as part of a crossover with the Micronauts.

But the same telepathy/telekinesis shit and energy blasts always bored me. That's partly why another take on Apocalypse is why I suggested it and perhaps could focus his vague moveset further with adding Magneto into it. Then the story implications of merging him and Apoc's tech could be a better way of returning him to an evil version instead of what they did with him and Fatal Attractions. But if we go with the timeline that they did have, you could make my idea interesting by using the techno virus to infect the sentinels and also have Magneto now have access to centuries of knowledge and go after people like Mr. Sinister and other mutant threats like reavers and purifiers. In the process, Onslaught becomes so powerful and goes against every hero like the one we got but now Magneto has to contend with the fact that it took all this power concentrated in himself and everyone now becoming even more fearful of him, backfiring on his goals and Charle's goals for mutants.
