Reposting from another thread to show Disney’s status on live action remakes and what films they have left to shit on:
>Lilo & Stitch 2, Hercules, and Tangled are all confirmed.
>Pocahontas is very unlikely to be remade with all the culturally insensitive shit.
>Hunchback of Notre Dame will probably also get religious backlash or controversy surrounding whether they cast an actual deformed person as Quasimodo or not
>Bambi and the Aristocats were originally planned but scrapped, may or may not reenter production
>Tarzan, The Emperors New Groove, and Robin Hood are either popular or have decent enough followings to have a chance
>Their popular revival era films are likely next on the chopping block, Frozen and Big Hero 6 especially (wouldn’t be surprised if they connect the latter remake to the MCU), unsure about a live action Zootopia since based on the scrapping of Aristocats and Bambi it seems they don’t want to risk blowing all their money on CGI animals unless it’s a guaranteed success, and a live action Wreck-It-Ralph sounds retarded even for Disney standards since it’s a movie that takes place inside video games.
>Brother Bear, Treasure Planet, and Atlantis are all unlikely, unless Disney actually wants to introduce them to a newer audience and by that I mean 30 year old bald men who watch nothing but MCU films.

Not a fan of most Disney stuff so this is not cope I promise, but I sort of think these movies can safely break even theatrically and still be worth the investment for Disney because they give them content for Disney+, which is actually their biggest source of revenue.

Zootopia 2 and Toy Story 5 also did over a billion each so it's not like they don't have revenue.

Genuine question, are these live action remakes a tax write off or something? Because every time I hear about one coming out, it's about how it flopped and had negative reception on release.
I'm just wondering how they're making money on these when it seems like people got sick of them after the first three.

If there’s any person who’s gonna be another celebrity president, it’s gonna be the Rock.

The Rock is fairly liked by the general public despite his reputation online, tons of people know him from WWE and his movies and he has tons of memorable characteristics and trademarks (like his eyebrow raise), just like how many people liked Trump in 2016 because they liked The Apprentice

>>154604231
The movies exist because Disney is very aware of the fact that when it comes to the box office, general audiences are more prone to watch movies made by Disney if they're NOT animated. Disney knows that the science proves that the average consumer will pick a live-action version of a story over an animated one because by nature of being a midwit, the average consumer struggles to emotionally connect to anything lacking a physical real person on film.

Putting out live-action remakes is "cheaper" because if they spent money on marketing re-releases of their 2D animated movies, they'd end up losing money. Live-action remakes also mean they can push a new round of merchandise of classic characters and make double the money.

People also forget that most of the people showing up these remakes are Hispanic audiences wanting to go out with their kids for a few hours. Most of these families only have minimal awareness of Disney.

Much like how Trump treated his first term like a reality show (constantly firing cabinet members and shit), it’d be much in-character for the Rock to treat his term like an action film.

Working out is gonna be to him what golfing was to Trump, he’ll do that shit everyday.

>... Treasure Planet and Atlantis are all unlikely
Which is the most baffling part of all. Both films had promising premises and were only really botched in their execution - TP suffering from a mediocre aesthetic, and weak character writing apart from the one good scene with Silver and Jim; and Atlantis suffering mostly from not getting to spend enough time on the actual search and getting to know the ensemble.

If you're going to remake movies, why not remake the shitty ones that would benefit from being remade instead of the excellent ones that will only ever live in their original's shadow?
>>
>>154604816
Trump by far more egotistical than the Rock, he is the purest definition of a nepo-baby born into wealth and was clearly in love with himself as far back as his early career, not to mention how thin-skinned he is to wear he’d flip off anyone calling him a nonce and refuse to accept losing to wear he’d chimp out and claim it was voter fraud. Trumps ego is built around wealth, Dwayne’s ego is built around his image and how he wants everyone to view him as extremely badass, he’d probably have the decency to at least not make his seething public.

>>154604980
The Rock is what many of the average people want: a young politician (or at least very young for modern president standards) with some personality.

You're looking at it backwards. Remakes are the new sequels, where the original's cultural weight serves as a free source of advertisement and marketing for the product. The Rock would also want the country to have the aesthetic of an action film, kinda like how Trump decorates everything with tacky gold shit, he’d put tons of funding in making military weapons futuristic (or at least look visually "futuristic") and would want his cabinet members to look as badass as he is. Yeah the voice acting is a pretty common complaint even from those who generally like the remake
tbf it's very hard to top the iconic perfectly over the top sf64 voice acting

Most of them have been very successful financially anon, many more than their originals. Unfortunately, too many normie families will let their kids watch any garbage as long as they're entertained, and too many casuals view live action as inherently superior and more adult.
>>154604676
They're really, unfortunately don't. There's like 2-3 exceptions, counting this one and it's still early to call this one.

The weekend is not finished yet and normies are stupid. Come on, Disney didn't even use their trump card which is remaking Frozen or the first Toy Story. Moana has NEVER truly been popular. The successful remakes for Disney are the ones based on their classics and Moana is not a classic.

And Disney is not in trouble because shitty movies like Moana 2 still fooled the normies into buying it. Disney is still enjoying a profitable year especially since the recent Toy Story 5 also profited.

What’s holding back Treasure Planets aesthetic for me is its artstyle, it just decided to use the lame and gay Disney house style that’s used in every other post-Little Mermaid film that’s a superficial attempt at replicating classic Disney with recycled character designs and movements and shit, more people need to wake up about how overrated and stagnant that style is. They should’ve used the opportunity to make the film look visually unique, kinda like Lilo & Stitch, one of the few times Disney actually made a film stand out stylistically.

Like look at this face, this is probably one of the most inbred character designs I’ve seen in a Disney film.

Johnson receives a producer fee of low millions and an actor fee >$20 million

Kids don’t decide what movies they get to see in theaters, parents do, and parents don’t give a shit about the quality of the films they show their kids either, especially not millennial Disney adult parents. They probably see trailers for these remakes and think "ooooohhh this’ll be fun to show the kids" and drag their kids to watch this garbage, the worst part is that the children actually find these films enjoyable.

I heard it's mostly about protecting the IP more than anything. Since Blu Ray and Streaming Disney couldn't use their decades long strategy of rereleasing their films in theatres every 15 years or so like they'd been doing from the 1940s to about the mid 00s (they tried rereleasing some of the 90s films back on theater but they underperformed because everyone already had the DVDs). So they're making their own movies again with live action actors to keep the IP relevant

>We've got people in the government admitting to snorting coke off of toilet seats.
Putting them tax dollars to good use, I see. Unironically gross and based. God bless America.

>"why would they even make a moana remake? It's like a pretty recent movie"
>it came out 10 years ago
>>
>>154615280
10 years ago is still too recent for a remake
We just got a sequel in 2024
>>
>>154615222
didn't they rerelease some 2D movies in theaters around the early 10s when the 3D fad was a thing

I'm sorry Christopher Columbus ate all the native Peruvians. We'll have to make due with the kid who plays Luffy as Kuzco.
>>
>>154615283
not for disney.
If you were nostalgic for last month they'll capitalize on that too.

>Lilo & Stitch 2
All but guaranteed to not even break even. Every Live-Action sequel has made significantly less money than the last.
>Alice in Wonderland BO: $1.025 billion; Alice through the Looking Glass BO: $299.5 million
>Maleficent BO: $759.8 million; Maleficent Mistress of Evil BO: $491.7 million
>Thr Lion King BO: $1.662 billion; Mufasa BO: $723 million
Hell, even before this trend that was the case.
>101 Dalmatians BO: $320.7 million; 102 Dalmatians BO: $183.6 million
Stitch was an anomaly is a lot of ways, but I doubt even he can break such a consistent pattern, especially when the first movie was so poorly received.
>Hercules
A disaster in the making. So much of it relied on the 90s zeitgeist as part of its charm.
>Tangled
I remain firm that no CGI remake film is going to do well. Remakes of 2D animated films got a pass with audiences because they were literally getting a different experience even if the scripts were identical. When you have Live-Action films that are 90 percent CGI anyways, it's just going to look like a downgrade in comparison.

>and now it's too late

He's still got plenty of time. In fact he probably would have been rejected for being too young to be president if he ran for 2016.
>>
>>154615253
no one under 35 has money anyway, and anon is talking about 10 years ago when it would've been no one under 25 hearing of him.
>>
>>154607215
They probably don't know how Frozen will hold up without Menzel and Bell who are too old to play the characters in live action

Peruvians are among the mestizos who barely look mixed, they still are 5 foot tall browns but they have facial hair.

>Let’s not forget that he openly admitted to pissing in bottles at the gym, now imagine the entire country knowing that.
bro we're like 12 years away from a president who's had a readily available sex tape and we have one who's almost certainly cheated on his wife which would've ruined a political career 20 years ago. the one before that kept his drug using son in the white house. Standards have slipped so much peeing in a bottle is nothing.
>>
>>154615472
Lilo & Stich 2 will be carried by the Asian overseas audience who don't care about the story being ruined and just want to see Stitch do funny things
>>154615510
just de-age them
>>
>>154604433
Snow white made better numbers than Lilo and Stitch.

go look them up.
>>
>>154615616
You can't deage actors for an entire film. They'd certainly lose money if they did
>>
>>154615299
Yeah but they didn't do great convincing Disney that rereleasing old films wasn't worth it anymore.
>>
>>154604057
They're all related
>>
>>154615616
Anon every Live-Action remake has been defended with the excuse of "normies don't give a shit about story and will eat it up anyway". That sort of novelty only works once, the diminishing returns are way too consistent to ignore.

The best chance the Democrats have is Gavin Newsom or Mamdani, but both are pretty polarizing.
>>
>>154616137
Unless they get an amendment Mamdani the Ugandan scammer cannot run as President.
Newsom’s polls are bad but at this moment is either him or double standards : the lady AOC

people are realizing they can pacify their little snots by sitting them down in front of a monitor and streaming Moana and Frozen 500 times instead of paying increasingly more money to go out to the movies, the films actually making money being the indie arthouse/horror stuff is to be expected because that's who's bothering to turn up to theaters now and said films also comparatively cost peanuts to make

Spider-Man will make a shitload of money because it's Spider-Man though, same probably goes for Avengers later this year
>>
>>154604096
Pocahontas is so funny because it's literally immune to being turned into a dogshit remake, the story is so intrinsically tied to half the cast being native americans and half the cast being white people that any attempt to change it would get massive backlash, hell the story alone would get backlash and any attempts to rewrite it would also catch huge amounts of shit
>>
>>154604096
>live-action Zootopia remake
that sounds so insanely ridiculously stupid
it's the EXACT SAME MOVIE except with hyper-realistic animals, like it would literally JUST look shittier and you can't even justify a '2D to 3D' reasoning for it
>>
I'd vote for the rock because it would be really funny
>>
>>154616532
>people are realizing they can pacify their little snots by sitting them down in front of a monitor
parents realized this in the 50s when they invented TV cartoons for children
>>
>>154604096
>Tarzan

Wouldn't they need to renegotiate the rights with whoever owns Tarzan now?
>>
>>154616699
difference being now you dictate the time the cartoons are on and they can rewatch their favorite thing over and over and over and over again constantly with near 100% uptime and less input, lazy parenting has never been easier
>>
>>154615581
>we have one who's almost certainly cheated on his wife
Correction- has confirmedly cheated on all three of his wives.
>>
>>154616699
Yes but it used to be you were limited by the times the cartoons were on tv and you could only buy a few hours at best. Used to be cartoons were on a few hours in the morning, few hours in the after afternoon and all Saturday morning. Now you can stream stuff constantly
>>
>>154616715
Was about to say this. They'd need to get the rights from ERB's estate, and after John Carter they're probably not going to want to touch it with a ten foot pole
>>
>>154613838
At least John Cena can act

>certainly cheated on his wife which would've ruined a political career 20 years ago
The Lewinsky scandal was 30 years ago. But I think there is a difference in play, people know what it's like to be tempted or to cheat, and people can understand and empathize with keeping an addict family member around to try and help them; the amount of people who'd understand pissing in water bottle while at the gym is vanishingly small.
>>
>>154611878
pissing in bottles is so fucking low tier compared to the shit that has come up in just the last three terms alone
>>
>>154618740
I pee in bottles every day
It's called being busy, something that losers like you wouldn't understand

>historically accurate Pocahontas
>grim drama about a bunch of Englishmen starving and dying of disease while engaging in conflict-prone trade negotiations with the Powhatan Confederation
>Pocahontas only occasionally appears, mostly hangs out with the kids in the colony or attends negotiations with her father
>>
>>154618932
Why?
>>
>>154618830
People can even understand pissing in a bottle due to work; they don't understand pissing in a bottle while you're performing a voluntary activity at your own pace in a facility that has available toilets.
>>
>>154604715
The furries are making porn of it.

I don’t do it in the middle of a fucking gym just placing the bottle next to me afterwards and letting it accidentally show up on video, like if you have to whip your cock out at the gym to piss in a bottle at least have the decency to throw it out.

Great, it's all garbage.
>>
>>154615791
Hollywood doesn't understand that people flocking to see a movie in droves isn't the same thing as people actually liking it.
