Is the League of Comic Geeks a good website to get comics online? Been thinking about getting into comics recently, especially when it comes to DC’s Absolute Universe but I don’t know where to buy comics online.

What does /co/ recommend for new people getting into comics?

Fuck off

>get comics online
Anon....it's not a market platform
It's four things
A. A social network for fans (though I don't use it for that)
B. A way to keep track of your pulls and collection
C. A review site for comics
D. A database meant to catalog information like release dates and credits and character appearances
It's the best site for information ever since comicbookdb died but its not a place where you can actually buy or read comics
t. Rank 4 contributor there

If you don't have an LCS, you can still buy digital but if you're short on cash or don't have the option at all there are various sites you can use of varying quality.
Getting into comics is honestly no different than any other medium.
If someone asked me recommendations, I'd just ask what kind of comics are they interested in period or what types of games, films, animations, books, etc they like
Work of that instead of risking recommending something you like but they necessarily won't
As for resources, yeah LOCG is great to keep up with upcoming releases but it's not perfect
The search engine is heavily flawed because essential information hasn't been fully filled out yet and necessary filters are locked behind a paywall
That said, concerning strictly direct market releases by all means it's a better site than even the actual publishers'

Do women even read comics? I thought they hate it for being childless.
>>
>>154607079
They like Lore Olympus, Saga, MTMTE, etc
>>
>>154607079
It's a mostly male hobby, but female comic nerds exist
>>
>>154605430
The absolute series is good and get them. But modern ones are hit or miss.

>>154607079
Female comic nerds are VERY intense from personal experience.

Here's mine. This is just floppies, I haven't gotten around to adding my trades, which would bump Marvel and DC up quite a bit

Nah, it's just a hobby she brought up during a stream
It's not her gimmick

Still rare for a woman to be into comics

It's just Letterboxd for comics
You're not reading free comics there

No not really
Go to your local library's graphic novel section
>>
>>154610718
I do. There’s rarely anyone there, and the few that are there are men/boys. I do live in the suburbs, I’ll probably try the city then.

They read webtoons

Comicvine better
For DC, mikesamazingworld.com

If you're buying print books check the big stores like Amazon, DCBS, etc. for discounts.
If you're looking to read digitally, legally, and you're an American, always check Libby. You'd be surprised how many trades are available through the library system.
Otherwise get the DC/Marvel digital subscriptions.

Floppies and the direct market should have died decades ago.

>Comicvine better
The current contribution rate at LOCG is outpacing Comicvine's despite the multi year head start that had
Also, compare these two pages

Why not get physical books? You won’t run the risk of big corporations stealing what you already bought m

It takes one natural disaster to take that stuff out. I know because I lost my shit thanks to a flash flood overnight in an area that normally doesn't get flooded.
