Was he a well written character?
>>
>>154606406
Todd is asexual so dont use the conventional pronouns
>>
>>154606406
I like his beanie
>>
>dude, make him asexual because we need to insert some drama into his character
Not really, no.
>>
>>154606406
No. He was blatantly out of place. The reason Todd even existed is because his actor funded the show directly as such they gave him his self insert. Todd is in every way a pointless character.
>>
>>154608592
We also can't forget the amazing character arc where he got mad at Bojack for fucking one of his friends as if he needs to police who a grown woman he doesn't even have interest himself has sex with, and the audience is expected to agree with him.
>>
>>154608667
The initial joke that it was literally just Aaron Paul gatecrashing the show was funny. Todd didn't need to be a serious character.
>>

Bojack caused a faux pas that wasn't resolved for an entire day so Todd never forgave him for the rest of his life. This means that Bojack is very bad.
>>
>>154608737
>Dude theres only a sexual relationship lmao
Retard. Asexuals who are in a relationship exists
>>
>>154608970
Well, did Todd start a sexless love relationship with whatshername?
>>
>>154609007
Not the point. Its still considered cheating. Just because your wife doesnt fuck you you can fuck another woman
>>
Most asexuals irl are either sluts or have lots of kids
>>
>>154609093
Youre clueless. Go outside
>>
>>154609093
Most "asexuals" are just nerds who don't want to admit they have no idea how to have sex.
>>
>>154609246
Enough talking about yourself you narcissist
>>
>>154608970
They weren't in a relationship
>>
>>154609803
They where
>>
>>154609339
Like knows like.
>>
>>154609865
Wanna fuck?
>>
>>154606537
I don't think the writers of this show knows what being asexual actually means.
>>
>>154609246
you're literally on a website for incels
you are an incel to even say that
living in a bubble of pixels
and schizo posts
>>
>>154608813
>>154609007
I swear this fucker faggot would’ve ended up in the same reputation as bojack if this was “le realistic” but no it’s just sitcom shenanigans
>>
>>154609862
No they weren't. They had dated in high school.
>>
>>154608737
It's like the writers wanted to have asexual representation and then realized there's nothing narratively interesting about that orientation
>>
>>154609999
Says you. You find it boring because youre an incel
>>
>>154610009
Propose an interesting storyline about a character's asexuality
>>
>>154609912
no. I'm afraid of human contact.
>>
>>154609938
asexuals are just incels who are too shy to admit it.
>>
>>154610009
>erm, I *don't* feel sexual attraction actually
God, what a compelling character. They should also try a character who has no goals, ambitions, or opinions. that'll go down a storm.
>>
>>154610136
i'm a bonafide asexual, i've had relationships before and my lack of sexual desire led to issues.
>>
>>154610169
that's just a normal woman, amiright?
>>
>>154610175
actual incel response
>>
Eh. He served as a foil for the comedy. That was an important niche to fill for the entertainment value of the show, even if the creative value of the character was pretty low for most of the series.

It's worth pointing out there was another 'everything always goes right for them' happy character in the show, where it actually was highlighted that life is just unfair like that. So Todd didn't really have much place in the actual storytelling, just in the gags.
>>
>>154610191
I already told you twice. I don't know what you aren't grasping about this conversation.
>>
>>154610221
I don't know what posts are yours you autistic incel faggot
>>
>>154610238
>not being able to tone-read
>>
>>154608970
So you didn't watch the show.
>>
>>154609862
*They were
>>
>>154606406
Kinda meh, he works okay alongside Bojack since they're both fucking useless but complete opposites, but trying to make him the wise fool didn't really fit him, a character can't be the voice of reason if they're literally too dumb to live.
>>
>>154606406
I haven't watched the show in a while so I might not have the best memory about it but there wasn't a single episode where I said to myself "I wonder what Todd is doing"
>>
>>154609999
Quads of truth
>>
>>154606406
He was until he turned into the ASEXUAL character
At that point half of his lines would start with him saying something along the lines of "Well since I'm ASEXUAL now.." like they were hoping for terminally online people to make gifs out of these scenes
Not even gay characters were this bad
>>
dude
Millennials (but in 2014)

/co/ calls bullshit on this but honestly just think of all the incredibly unintelligent celebrities who are only successful because they had a Bojak in their life.

Someone like Clavicular is astroturfed by wealthy homosexuals like peter thiel not because he isn't a subhuman retard like Todd, but because they wanted him to succeed.

In this sense todd is realistic, we just dislike it because it's so absurd that a stupid fucker could make money from being friends with wealthy stupid fuckers that it makes us instinctively seethe at the innate dislogical nature of it- but the reality is that real life has no logic or morals, just stupid fuckers propping up other stupid fuckers.
>>
>>154609938
You're a woman on ssris and don't belong here.
>>
one thing I did dislike is that initially he was clearly supposed to be a light skinned hispanic, with his black hair and shit, but then later the show seems to have taken on sjw retard writers (writing of the show started in, what, 2011?) in the late 2010s and they had that weird episode where his stepdad was a weirdly stereotypical brown mexican dude like there has never been a hispanic person who just speaks english normally without an accent.
>>
>>154606406
i always despised this nigga for being a self-rightous mooch who did nothing with his life but prey on others good will, i despise that tangent he went on bojack being shitty to people counting bojak has let him live in his mansion for free for multiple years now (not defending bojak) i feel like any other character who was actually fucked over by bojak in a more substantial way should have done it. guy lost all interest from me the second he went from goofy side cast member to actually seriously

NORMAL WORDS
>>
>>154609093
>>154609999
A-sexuals from a writing standpoint have the most limited amounts of interesting character arcs and dynamics to do with them that's why they tend to get the least amount of representation.
you can objectively do more with lesbians, gays and trans people to create a compelling character. most of the time when a character is a-sexual dont even realize their a-sexual and just assume they have a low libido or the writer didnt give them a romantic partner which happens with straights and non-ace queers all the time
>>154610152
>>
>>154606406
He logically should have left after Season 3 but Aaron Paul is a producer on the show. So he became Princess Caroline's babysitter so they had an excuse to keep in on the main cast

Fake BoJack fan.
>>
>>154606406
He was one of the better-written characters from that flaming heap.
>>
>>154613948
Having le gag character get srs and literally walk off the show would have been a cool move. Just goes out the door and never appears again.
>>
>>154615327
Yeah that'd be pretty boss lol

but
>>
>>154606406
Nope. He's not well-written, he's pretty much the remaining adult child who causes most of his own problems just like the rest of the cast.

>Was he a well written character?
Well, let's see.

>character in the animated series Bojack Horseman
Then no.
>>
>>154619145
But BoJack Horseman is a well-written show! I struggle to understand how you came to your conclusion.

I barely remember anything he said or did because he's so uninteresting. Just constant dumb hijinks that distract from the rest of the show.
>>
>>154606406
Todd was completely fine, and a pleasant contrast to Bojack's downer personality, when he was a simple character. He was a loser that Bojack kept around to feel better about himself, but also because Bojack enjoyed talking to Todd, and Todd dropped the occasional nugget of wisdom (usually unintentionally). But he absolutely does not work as a serious judgmental character. Bojack undeniably did shitty things, but Todd straight up killed people with his rabies exercise program. If you want Todd to be super judgmental to Bojack, his character had to be played straight from the start. But without Todd's goofy adventures, the show leans too heavily into misery porn.

The show really feels like their were two writing teams constantly at odds with each other, instead of trying to work together. Todd worked best as the naive, unrelentingly hopeful voice for Bojack. Not whatever the fuck they did with him in the later seasons.
>>
>>154620538
They made for a fun duo
>>
>>154606406
No
>>
The only way to make an asexual character interesting is to make them a celibate priest or an alien.
>>
>>154606406
started out as a based NEET chad normies just couldn't bring themselves to hate because he was too adorable and silly, basically a way to say you can be someone worthy even if you do not contribute to the system, ended up as one of the most ungrateful bitches in the show...and normies said he was in the right too. He didn't pay back everything Bojack did for him, never. I can say that's pretty realistic however, typical entitled guy from LA
>but he doesn't owe him anything! Bojack wanted him at his house!
Please shut the fuck up

Why did you kill a thread to ask a question you already know the answer to be no?

I did like the line:
"You can be A: sexual or B: asexual and be A: romantic or B: aromantic. As for me, See B-A"

That moment has passed. Tuca & Bertie should consider itself lucky for even getting that second chance on adultswim. For all the whining people did when Netflix initially killed the show--which admittedly was really quick--these same "fans" clearly didn't show up for Seasons 2 & 3.

It sucks, but it's a better deal than most new adult cartoons have gotten. 30 episodes ain't bad by today's standards.

And now the same is happening with Long Story Short.

Are ALL of RBW's non-BoJack projects fated to fall under the radar?
>>
>>154626288
Yes, probably due to how they handled the last few seasons of Bojack.
>>
>>154627111
Not many people even realize Bojack was soft-cancelled :(
>>
>>154627669
What do you mean?
>>
Am I normie because I found funny that subplot of him having to avoid having sex with the axolotl bitch's mother and sister?
>>
>>154606406
the axolotl episode was really funny
>>
>>154608813
I genuinely find it baffling that the writers genuinely tried to convince the audience that Todd as a good person who eternally held the moral high ground because the person he parasitically attached himself to did a selfish thing once.
>>
>>154630606
The whole show's thesis was that Bojack himself is the devil and anyone in his orbit in the show was in the right.
>>
>>154606406
He's literally the absolute worst example of the idiot sidekick character. Was he as bad as BoJack? No, he was a decent enough guy, but he had no reason to exist but to crack some random jokes about BoJack.
>>
>>154606406
Isn't he a guy?
>>
>>154634149
Yes? Did the show ever imply he wasn't?
