There's an unwritten rule that telling someone to "shut up" in a kids' show is considered taboo by S&P

>Norbert often switched "shut up" with "shush up"
>Rigby's "stop talking" catchphrase arrived because they had to limit the amount of times he said "shut up" to avoid a TV-14

Why is kids' TV so fucking lame?
>>
>>154614634
Have you ever met a kid? They copy everything they see and hear. If childrens programming had shut up in it they'd be saying it to their parents and teachers.

>If childrens programming had shut up in it they'd be saying it to their parents and teachers.
Like they wouldn't already?
>>
>>154614634
Shut up faggot
>>
>>154614634
Billy and Mandy and Ed Edd n Eddy said that multiple times.
>Ed: Shut up, Sockhead!
>>
>>154614696
Probably sparingly
>>
>Dude, Benson's gonna be [REDACTED]

>>Rigby's "stop talking" catchphrase arrived because they had to limit the amount of times he said "shut up" to avoid a TV-14

Huh. I consider this one of those rare wins where the bureaucratic horseshit resulted in a better product. Rigby spergiciously shouting "STOP TALKIIING!!" was a fun bit.
>>
>>154614634
"Shut up", "stupid", and even "liar" were all considered bad words at various points in my childhood by parents and teachers.
>>
>>154615079
>TV censors are still using the same standards they had in 1995

This is why the internet is better.
>>
>>154615215
Don't worry, they're working on killing that too with the digital IDs.
>>
>>154615005
This, is a very funny catchphrase
>>
>>154614851
I remember being surprised they could say pissed in a kids show.
>>
>>154614634
That’s weird because in the Spic dub Rigbly frequently uses Shut Up
https://youtu.be/iUHjyi7XUPI
But I do know that plenty of G rated movies like Toy Story 3 use the word suicide a lot but in those Spic dubs they avoid using it.
>>
>>154614634
Nickelodeon had a rule that their cartoons can only have star kids as the main characters. You can only make them adults if its a funny animal.
>>
>>154616136
>You can only make them adults if its a funny animal.
Or if they're inanimate objects (I should really check out Rock Paper Scissors)

>TV-PG Cartoon Network
I miss it so much!!
>>
>>154617516
The new RS season is PG
>>
>>154615079
I get that nobody likes to be called a liar (especially if you're not one), but getting triggered by the word even if it's not directed at you is a red flag
>>
>>154614675
this won't work on TV sperg

>Why is kids' TV so fucking lame?
... Because it's for kids?
>>
>>154618699
I heard that they say "crap" again. I've only seen a couple episodes and didn't hear it.
>>
>>154617516
Wasn’t EEnE rated TV-Y7?
>>
>>154614656
Can confirm this answer, I work with kids and they still be shouting 6-7 like it’s greatest comedy bit of the century.
Kids, or should I say kids with sub optimal to minimal parent involvement, literally copy anything they hear or think is popular. If your character went around yelling shut up as some kind of punchline they’d be saying that too, which is disrespectful.
This all reminds me of when I told my friend to “go jump in a lake” because I read it in Calvin and Hobbes. Boy did I get in trouble for that one.
>>
>>154614656
>>154620602
You say that like it's too much hassle to tell your kids to mind their manners and you need the TV and the computer to do it for you.
>>
>>154620746
Have you ever met a parent? They’re too lazy and retarded to take care of their kids.
>>
>>154620746
Im saying we are in a crisis where parents are not teaching their kids and shoving them in front of television and iPads with zero supervision

Yeah, but specifically early 2010s CN was almost entirely TV-PG programming.

Is this from the Party Pete episode?

maybe that's why people used to go bananas over this clip in the 2000s

And the American parents and TV executives of the 70s were too afraid of the Superfriends throwing a punch.

Very strange times indeed. I remember rare special occasions where Comedy Central would air their shows uncensored, even during middle of the day.
>>
>>154625261
Yeah, FX has been allowing movies and shows like Always Sunny to say fuck and cunt since 2017 at least
Kids channels are going backwards though

Why? That's a refreshing activity.

I'm surprised the new Regular Show season is deemed appropriate for present-day Cartoon Network. All bets were on it being an HBO Max exclusive like Fiona and Cake

Not enough on the kids' channels. They're still working on 90s standards.

Buddy, I wish it were that simple. Hell it's better to just to monitor what they watch because once they find something that's "wrong" they will think its the funniest shit in the world and just repeat it.
>>

>t. never had kids
Yes.
>Hell it's better to just to monitor what they watch
That's a good place to start. Thanks.
>>
>>154614634
my mom wouldn't let me watch regular show because they used the word "sucks"
>>
>>154625946
Not a big surprise, your average normalfag would want to any episode of Regular Show over some LGBT tumblr millennial garbage for 30yo+ femcels like Fionna and Cake
>>
>>154622870
Missing ep. 1 of Urusei Yatsura.... actually maybe that was 80s?
>>
>>154614634

>>
>>154620746
Yes, that's literally too much to expect of modern parents who glue their kids to a tablet and then wonder why they've raised such a poorly adjusted shiftless fuckup.
