Kids cartoons are an outdated concept. The suits and parent groups have sanitized them so much that no self respecting kid would want to look at one. Retarded censorship demands (that have been in place for decades), unmarketable characters, and forced moral lessons helped kill it.
Why watch some CN or Disney cartoon when you can watch Pomni or Helluva
I've said before that CN backtracking on their early 2010 edginess was the killing blow. They should have gone farther, allow infrequent swearing and blood, tv-14 shows, etc

Nothing good to watch
>>
No point in making them because kids that age are immediately handed a smartphone by their shitty parents, who will then insist that we need digital ID and mass online surveillance to constantly keep an eye on their retarded kids because they're too lazy to just not give them an iPad from the time they can read.

All the censorship & moralfagging is what truly killed cartoons. It's a no fun allowed zone now. That's why when Pokemon hit the scene, it blew out the cartoon industry. John K & Ralph Bakashi at least fought their hardest to make cartoons geared towards adults, & it took over 20 years before adult-oriented cartoons got their own TV block. And now, YouTube is enforcing those old censorship & moralfagging standards that killed cartoons. Until cartoon creators can have as much creative freedom as anime creators, I don't see much hope in the industry.

Get rid of all the woke shit & start lewding the lolis if you want to save the industry or else get left behind.

I was going to argue with OP that Kiff and Big City Greens are 6-11 cartoons, but your comment made me stop dead in my tracks.

Both shows are great, but admittedly lack the kind of energy you'd get from shows that were targeting the same age range a decade earlier. This is made especially apparent when comparing these newer originals to the recent wave of spin-offs/revivals we've gotten over the last year.

Lost Tapes stays true to its predecessor with tons of edgy euphemisms (plus the adult main cast), and TWWWOG and Side Quests aren't nearly as grounded as the aforementioned modern Disney Channel cartoons; lots of elevated stakes and fast-paced slapstick that kids would be more likely to gravitate towards. We need 6-11 originals with at least *some* level of edge or excitement to keep kids' cartoons alive without relying on millennials' reheated leftovers.

Anon is retarded and so are you. Cartoons survived perfectly fine with sanitized moral shit a la gi joe and 4kids anime localizations. /co/ gets so up its own ass about its pet handful of series that it forgets that the other side of the era was tame, zero conflict shit like GI Joe, Pokemon or Arthur, or that fucking Bluey is the singlest biggest streaming show in existence.

Cartoons are dying because 20-30 years ago, a kid's options for entertainment were going outside and playing, shitty boardgames, or watching one of 20 channels relevant to them on TV, 25% of which were cartoons. A kid NOW has access to 100,000,000,000 videos on youtube, and thousands of Twitch livestreams, and at their fingertips thousands of cataloged series/movies/shows from previous generations, and cheap easy access to thousands of video games on the PCs everyone has or parent's laptops, or their phones.

It's the same reason why no kid under 15 has given a flying fuck about comic books for 30 years, and barely anyone under the age of 20 reads books. The same reason why boardgames are a niche meme activity for 30 somethings not a kids activity. It's not about the content in the media form, it's that we live in a time where they have a dozen other more engaging forms of entertainment. Cartoons cannot compete with YT or video games.

FPBP (6-11 year olds would prefer to watch YouTubeslop) but they're still the second most profitable demo in animation

Massive cope. Manga sells are already outselling western comics because they appeal to ALL audiences. Western comics give very little options. It's either capshit, toddlershit, or some fake manga trying too hard. Westerners are more than capable of making good adult oriented cartoons (see France), but the Tumblr dykes, FCC, & helicopter parents still haven't gotten the memo that just because it's animated, doesn't mean it's for children.

I don't understand how an industry that's perfectly fine with gore in cartoons see's a problem with cartoon female nudity. These reasons alone are why you're getting asses kicked by Japan.

What are you talking about? Kids show were always sanitized, even in its high times. What are the big kids shows today? Paw Patrol and Ladybug. Both are family friendly.
The problem is most kids shows dont make alot of money and they compete with each other now on youtube.

>today's biggest kids' cartoons are for literal preschoolers
Do you see the problem now?

In the '90s/2000s we had Powerpuff Girls, Ed Edd n Eddy, Kim Possible, Danny Phantom; in the 2010s we had Adventure Time, Phineas and Ferb, Gumball, Gravity Falls; but now... ? I have doubts Big City Greens experiences the same popularity among its target audience (and older teen audience) like the big kids' shows of yore. The issue isn't that it's episodic, either; it's that it's too grounded, generic, and sanitized on its surface.

I was waiting for someone to acknowledge actual kids shows being a rarity nowadays, like name one meant for kids and not for adults and teens who grew up on cartoons, ignoring the age rating
