Xorn was a disguise Magnetic used to infiltrate the X-Men. Later revealed to be under Sublime's control.That was supposed to be the end to the character but editorial ordered Chuck Austin to create a new Xorn while allowing Claremont to bring back Magneto and straight up allowing Claremont to get revenge on Morrison by having Magneto declare that Planet X was done by an imposter.Bendis didn't like fans assuming Wanda resurrected her dad so he declared that Xorn was real and now an energy entity and had him possess a random guy and kill Alpha Flight, then possess Magneto again. Meanwhile Austen got rid of Xorn 2 first chance he could and editorial banned writers from doing anything else outside Keiron Gillen doubling down on Magneto not doing Planet X.Then Hickman fucked shit up using two Xorns in Ultimates and Xorn 2 came back again as an X-Men ally

>>154622224Like I said I'm fairly sure it was to get back at Morrison. Morrison didn't get along with Quesada, Jemas or editorial in general. He quickly got sick of them trying to micromanage his scripts so he'd submit them as late as possible to prevent it. When DC offered him a chance to jump he took it which Quesada found out when he showed up at a DC PANEL at SDCC which led to Quesada yelling at and cussing out Morrison on the con floor. Morrison told him "Fuck you and fuck your boss" and that was it.Not too long later, the Xorn/Magneto shit happens and then a year or so later House of M happens and nukes the Morrison status quo.
