From the 80s till about 2015 the idea of having romances was after thoughts or comparable with the one major outlier being Beast Wars which came about thanks to the writer needing a strong character hook to set up the vents of season two. Most are not that interested in smut and want an interesting story with space robots.

Xillenials at best. The Millennials who grew up with Harry Potter and Pokemon(i.e. what most people mean when they say Millenial) did not grow up with G1.
