I was thinking about this the other day, and how many comics and cartoons made these days seem to just be... empty. Completely devoid of meaning.
You have a host of indulgent vanity projects that are semi-autobiographies about 'generational trauma' or 'my parents didn't understand me', and then fanciful adventure stories that are built in imitation of other adventure stories but without any deeper message or meaning to them at all. No deeper exploration of a theme or anything.

So I figured maybe that was something worth discussing. Obviously if you go back to the classics they still knew how to tell stories back then, Disney and early Pixar knew what they were about, but I'd be curious to see what messages or themes you feel exist in more recent works. What are these shows or movies ABOUT other than their superficial premise?
