Todd McFarlane. It's not hard to connect this creator to the character of Spider-Man, As both thie legacies are tied together. Of course Todd benefits are more tangiable, seeing as he's the real person and not a fictional character. But McFarlaned brought a lot to the table. Not just For Spider-Man, or Marvel, but for comics in general. And if you know Todd McFarlane, you know he started off as a artist. Nowdays. he's a lot more the that. But what him a household name was his artwork and more so his Spider-Man artwork. But todd's also a writer. he's been wrting his creation of Spawn for over three decades now. But before that h would write his comic at marvel. And that comic was Spider-Man number one. Yes, the Spider-Man the Spider-Man number one with iconic cover that sold 2.5 milion copies. So, with as comic that sold so much and has a powerhouse creator attached to it, this new at the time Spider-Man series, Also know as adjectiveless Spider-Man, has to be the one of the best spidey comics ever writtten Right? The answer is No.And I would actually argue that this issue number one, as well as the rest of the series written by odd McFarlaned, is some of the worst Spider-Man comics ever writtenBe sure to watch thus video and all will be made clear to you why it sucks anons.

Yeah it is pretty awful. It is a real black mark on comics that they couldn't work out how to get those artists to not be retarded and work with good writers. All it led to is losing the best years of some of the best pencillers to ever do it to unreadable garbage.
>>154629454Why not just tell people to read it and make their own determination? I don’t think “Todd mcfarlands writing sucks” is a unique interesting or controversial enough topic to dedicate a video over, at least unless you’re Neil Gaimen. He’s a cool artist but doesn’t have enough to say to be an interesting writer, but his Mary Jane was peak
>>154629454The McFarlane adjectiveless run outside the Xforce crossover is 100% forgotten. Even Howard Mackie famously shat on the run in Ghost Rider plus the longstanding rumor that JDM was explicitly hired to write Spectacular purely to cockblock Todd from ruining Harry (who Todd wanted to turn into a born again Christian serial killer and disfigure his son). When people think of Todd on Spidey it is always his Amazing run not adjectiveless
Yeah this has never been up for debate. This is not a scathing insight. What's next you gonna rant that Liefeld can't draw feet? You're an idiot.

>>154629531Todd really just never bothered to learn how to write, I wonder why. He wrote long enough but I honestly don’t remember a single story that he’s ever written that was good or interesting, how did spawn become so popular?
>>154629622>how did spawn become so popular?
>>154629622>Todd really just never bothered to learn how to write, I wonder why.In his own words, he mostlead the sport pages on the newspaper>how did spawn become so popular?Because the art and the stuff was cool>>154629888
>>154629915>Because the art and the stuff was coolWas it though? I mean we're far divorced from the zeitgeist of the time but have you really ever sat down and read spawn? Most early issues are a whole lot of nothing
>>154629980>Was it though? Yes>I mean we're far divorced from the zeitgeist of the timeThat's pretty much why
still better than the last 26 years of spider-man books.
>>154629454youre not going to believe this, but people like his art and jus tlook at the pictures. like they literally do not read the comics.
>>154629454No SHIT.
you could say that about that entire decade at marvel
>>154629454This is that run with the really weird lizard story involving some voodoo black chick, right? Yeah it was pretty bad from what I've read.
>>154632961No, there were still some good comics.
>>154630388See I think THAT would've been an actual controversial statement. Like saying that Todd McFarlane's Spider-Man writing is shit but still better than fucking Shed or Dan Slott's run or something would've gotten more attention. Saying Todd McFarlane's writing sucks is a cold take because everyone's said it since the 90s
