Why would a pc running with experimental proprietary software be kept supplied with electricity for many years, and what explains brainscans being so clearly possible without ever being appreciated as an invention or developed further or reinvented in the meantime. But this general scenario that doesn't make sense is what is nevertheless intended by the show.
