How did furry comics situation look like before the internet?

Man, old school comic book/book cover furries were something else.
>>
Still as faggoty then as it is now.

The contributors were primarily cartoonists.

>>154640167
If anything, the faggotry has increased since the Internet happened.
>>
>>154639944
It was a niche but stable corner of the industry, more than one publisher like Antarctic basically kept the lights on with furry comics
>>
>>154639944
Stan Sakai drew this? I thought he only drew Usagi stuff. Any porn in it?
>>
>>154640047
see humans were always fantasizing about cats to fuck
>>
>>154641867
He probably only drew the cover.
He also drew "The Adventures of Nilson Groundthumper" before starting UY.

As for Beauty of the Beasts, it was a pin-up art collection. There's no "Adults Only" label, so it likely didn't have anything racier than cheesecake.

You had a localized west coast thing comic wise and while rare in Japan the artists were (and still are) faggots who wouldn't export it.
>>
>>154639944
I like finding these old furry comics in back issue bins.
>>
Omaha" the Cat Dancer was good.
should get a hardcover reprint at some point
>>
it certainly looked unique. there's a thread on /t/ about these if you're interested in archives.
>>
>>154642299
I wish, I loved that comic. Great dialogue and great sex.

Spotted this guy called Nuria Chapa few months back but having a hard time finding his stuff out there cause it's all in Spanish.
https://www.lambiek.net/artists/c/chapa_nuria.htm
Anyone have some info on him?
>>
>>154642836
its a pretty "big" name in indy comics. I have no idea why there isn't a single (or two volume) omnibus collection.
Might be a rights issue I guess.
>>
>>154639944
I had no idea that people were getting boner over furries back in the day.
The comics were enjoyable enough minus the fetish stuff
>>
>>154643777
Art style reminds me of "Quest for booty".
Besides that, I can't offer you any more help.
>>
>>154643843
That looks fucked
>>
>>154643826
I know. It's big enough that they got motherfucking Harlan Ellison to write a foreword. And it was FOR FREE in a charity issue, from the crankiest jewish man to ever live. What's going on?
>>
Anyone know where I can find archives of Rowrbrazzle?
>>
What happened in the 80's and 90's US Army that made so many of them furries? A shitload of pre-2000's furry comics were military stories.
>>
>>154644058
What makes you think there aren't plenty of furries in the military right now?
>>
>>154644068
They aren't drawing as many comics about it
>>
>>154644068
They can't draw or write. The academy used to teach how to draw big tits.

the military attracts a lot of autism
>>
>>154644384
That sounds like a lie.
>>
>>154644384
But they screen for that stuff.
>>
>>154642266
Oh I know that artist.
He does good stuff
An unfortunate name in the modern era though
>>
>>154645048
Wait, what went wrong with whom? I made a sentence with only w words haha
>>
>>154644384
The military is all about drilled, repetitive tasks and motions and orders that give clarity and a lack of ambiguity. So I can see that.
>>
>>154645529

The artist's pen name is "orange man bad uwu brb gotta go dilate".
>>
>>154644770
Exactly. They screen FOR it, not against it
>>
>>154644058
A tank is basically a mobile, armed basement.

I don't get it

>back when i was a young teen
>visit a sci fi fantasy book store for the first time
>ringworld looked cool, get that one
>mfw the protag has sex with every alien he can get his hands on, mostly furry
>>
>>154643860
It’s basically Saturday morning cartoon tier
>>
>>154643958
Seems like something Fantagraphics would put out as a hardcover
Are both of the creators dead now ? Maybe the estate doesn’t want it reprinted
A Kickstarter would do 6 figures at least

I got some Red Shetland comics and the artist mentions the newest issue took awhile to get out since he was stationed in Iraq

>>154649709
Why would the government want to create furries
>>
>>154644058
Poontang regulations I guess.
So you're trapped in the desert with a bunch of other bored guys.
What do? Grab the pencil and draw some wankfodder.

And blessed Doug Winger worked on the A10 BRRRRT.
>>
>>154649452
A lot of tank men are autistic weebs that would dwell in their mother's basements in the civilian world.
>>
>>154649583
Reed Waller is still alive, and tbe final volume of Omaha came out well after Kate Worley died. Maybe I should email kitchen sink press.
>>
>>154650179
Ooooh I misread basement there, indeed it all makes sense now
>>
>>154649502
Was it illustrated?
>>
>>154650163
>Doug Winger worked on the Phallic Object Plane.
Suddenly it all makes sense.
>>
>>154651735
I wish I had that picture of that vintage airplane art that said "Little stinker", and it was an anthro skunk. Haven't been able to find it and have been kicking myself for forgetting to save it.
>>
>>154650188
Oh I thought reed died
Yeah I have no idea how to convince a publisher that there is an audience for a book
If reed went on Kickstarter I bet he could pull 200k for a hardcover Omni
>>
If radioactive hamsters can make 45k on kickstarter I bet Omaha cat dancer could do at least double

Weirdest thing about the series is there's a hardcover collection of Omaha readily available on Amazon right now, but it's the spanish edition. The volumes are only $20-30 a pop, but it's in a language I can't read, and not what the books were originally written in.
>>
>>154651886
I think Richard Corben’s Bloodstar book is the same way
Though you can find an old copy of the story in English a new French (??) version just came out.
I didn’t buy it since I hope dark horse does a version for their Corben library series
>>
>>154641903
Yeah we've been furries for decades.
>>
>>154651886
Reminds me of the English edition of the (marvel) colorized version of Akira
It was reprinted into 6 volumes in Japan (in English) but never directly sold in America (as far as I can tell)
though you can easily get copies of the series on secondary market....its just weird
>>
>>154652326
Millennia, read some of the shit the egyptians wrote about Set and Horus.
>>
>>154649651
Nice.
>>
>>154639944
>go to a comic con in the 90s
>furries just walking around
Then all of a sudden the internet let everyone know what a furry is and the furries all got banned (or so I assume...I never see them at comic cons anymore)
>>
>>154655909
Furries are just American Otaku

Military training and service disrupts your sleep schedule (and associated hormone production) so much for so long that it does permanent brain damage.
>>
>>154650163
Doug only worked on the weapons guidance systems, but I have no doubt a GAU-8 influenced his art.

Meanwhile, only comic shop I've found with furshit is greedy as fuck and prices all floppies $5 minimum.
