I liked it. I liked how it had a pre-Columbian Mexico theme to it. I like the story of the main character being a femboy who is learning how to be tougher.

I think the white T shirt girl is named Xinastaku or something. I liked her, but we never got to figure out the story why she has wings.

The entire show is short at only 12 episode, and I highly doubt there will ever be a season 2.

Mesoamerican history anon here

I would say absolutely, if you want something with that setting, or frankly anything with an underused historical/cultural setting

It is, in my opinion, very well researched, to the point where not only are the environments, background character designs and god designs (ironically, the main cast's designs are more wholly original/fantasy, I believe since Sofia designed them prior to bringing on consultants) etc all highly authentic and rooted in actual Mesoamerican urban planning, architecture, fashion etc, but each culture has it's own specific style in regards to those things, and plenty of things which are original and made up or take creative liberties still tie into or reflect actual Mesoamerican motifs and symbolism. Even Izel's character arc and the show's narrative is rooted in Aztec moral concepts and cosmology

But really I need to do an updated and larger review/analysis of the show at some point. I (though moreso a friend of mine) helped a Youtuber with a 25 minute video dissecting the 3 episodes here: youtube.com/watch?v=1Y2R3l94Hps , but again, that's just the first 3 episodes.

Mind you, unless you're really into Mesoamerica a lot of the small details will fly over your head, but even if you don't give a shit about Mesoamerica in particular, if you're wanting something that's just got a strong sense of visual identity and design and that feels original instead of run of the mill Tolkien/Isekai/Medieval European fantasy, I still think you'll appreciate it's setting.

The background art and music are also great, though the animation is iffy. The latter half of the series is also better then the first half. If I had to be totally unbiased by my love of the setting then I'd give it a 7/10 (in video game terms), a C+, a "good" but not great, etc.

if you thinks aztecs are cool,go ahead, otherwise know its a bit of a mess. It has some cool designs and concepts, but it really struggles with tone, almost like Showrunner couldnt decide if they wanted to write a fucking Shoujo anime or Spic Berserk. In between the the cool moments, its really looks more like a high budget DiC cartoon than a psuedo anime....which honestly I cant decide if thats a good or bad thing anymore.
Basically the show was doomed from the beginning but still worth the ride if youve got nothing else to watch
