I wonder how much influence the younger board artists have on new eps writing-wise. It doesn't make sense for Baby Prunes to get so much spotlight but they basically completely ignore Squilliam nowadays.I feel there's other factors like the spinoffs. When Kamp Koral/Patrick Show started they shared a lot of the same crew between those shows and the main series afaik and I can imagine that put a huge strain on them... That and there's also the movies that came out in rapid succession.Too much SpongeBob going on at once.I do think the few board driven episodes we've gotten in the main series recently are some of the best of the modern era. Dream Hoppers and Go Fetch are really good episodes.I think mainline SpongeBob and also toned itself down a bit again post-Patrick Show. Patrick Show is more the anything goes show while SpongeBob feels like it's attempting to have more "normal" plotlines again (normal by sponge standards anyway) which would be nice if they didn't feel so half-baked a lot of the time.Sorry if this is kinda rambly, TL;DR it's complicated.
