>Marvel is giving its upcoming Midnight Universe an identity that extends beyond the stories themselves. Ahead of the line’s October launch, the publisher has revealed a new recurring variant-cover program that will accompany Midnight Spider-Man, Midnight Fantastic Four, and Midnight X-Men, giving collectors a consistent monthly lineup of covers.>Launching alongside the three debut issues on October 7, the initiative introduces five recurring cover categories, labeled A through E, that will remain consistent across all three series. The goal is to simplify the collecting experience by allowing readers to easily identify the styles they want each month while helping retailers better anticipate demand.>The new monthly cover lineup includes:Cover A: Regular – The standard series cover featuring the Midnight trade dress.Cover B: Midnight Bloodbath Variant – Blood-soaked artwork highlighting the horror of the Midnight Universe.Cover C: Midnight Special Variant – Reimagined versions of Marvel heroes through the lens of the Midnight Universe.Cover D: Midnight Horror Homage Variant – Covers inspired by classic horror imagery.Cover E: Midnight Gallery Variant – Painted covers showcasing the eerie world of the Midnight Universe.Marvel notes that additional variant covers will still be released outside of the A through E program.>The announcement also includes a fresh wave of variant covers for all three debut issues.>Midnight Spider-Man #1, by Phillip Kennedy Johnson and ScieTronc, follows Peter Parker as his familiar mantra of great power takes a terrifying turn.

>The Midnight Universe launches October 7, when all three debut issues arrive in comic shops on the same day.
>Meanwhile, Jonathan Hickman and Matteo Della Fonte reinvent mutantkind in Midnight X-Men #1, where survival has replaced coexistence and bloodshed defines the future.
>In Midnight Fantastic Four #1, Benjamin Percy and Kev Walker transform Marvel’s First Family after an experiment unleashes ancient horrors upon the world.
Also: I HATE SPIDER-PERSONAS SO MUCHI also have sever multiversitis fatiguemultiversal refugees shouldn't be allowed in 616No, I am not making a new thread for this.>According to this PR from Marvel, the saga of the Amazing Spider-Man variant covers has reached a conclusion with a final blast that includes, as promised, a variant by John Romita Jr which is quite nice. This one was circulating for a while to general acclaim – much more in his wheelhouse than some previous efforts. >Also in this batch, a Frank Miller/Peach Momoko collab (!) and one based on a Steve Ditko pin-up that has never been used as a cover or printed in color. Dean White did the coloring, and it is also quite nice. >Also in this batch: a Paco Medina Muppet variant, a new cover by Skan commemorating Local Comic Shop Day, and an epic four-part connecting cover by Todd Nauck that will also run on AMAZING SPIDER-MAN #1001-1003.>While the furore about all the covers has died down, and we may never know exactly what transpired behind the scenes, I will say one thing: former SVP of sales and marketing David Gabriel has yet to be replaced at Marvel, and this is the kind of thing he would have had on lockdown. Head of sales is a pretty key position to be unfilled for three months. Obviously, things are changing at Marvel >Spider-Man #1000 has a main story written by Joe Kelly with art by Larraz that will change Peter Parker’s life forever; as well as a bunch of back-up stories. It goes on Sale September 16.

>>154650923Gambit as a vampire seems like something that should have already happened.
>>154650958So Peter's costume is just his mutated body in this series?
>>154650923Wait, black cat from the get go?
>>154650958I dig the urban ninja aesthetic with a remuxed wrestling mask
>>154651402looks like that + iron fist spider powers
>>154651421It's a reimagined variant where it's a possible version of her but on the #1? she likely shows up clearly still an heiress
>>154650966Imagine her looking at you like that while she rides you.
>>154650923>What if radiation was badJohnathan Hickman you've done it again
I kinda want this to fail. "Creator-driven horror, but Marvel" sounds interesting enough, but the initial lineup does in no way inspire confidence. And I don't want to stick around and wait for things to maybe take a turn for the better. It might be for the best that this fails.
>>154650930is midnight johnny a cyborg? do we know anything about these other than being the mtv oddities circus of marvel universes?
>>154652113I think he's just Johnny, but frowny.
>>154652146in that image he looks to have a leg similar to robocop
>>154650948>Kaneda please help me
>>154650930FF is the only one I like. Spider-Man is creatively bankrupt, and what the Hell is wrong with those X-Men costumes?
>>154650923It really is just the 90s againpraying bankruptcy comes sooner rather than later
>>154652146Sue is THICC
>>154650966Evil (probably) boobs
>>154652146Lovecraftian Galactus is a fun idea.
>>154652146I like that sue desgin and the 4 design in every costume.
>>154653735The 4 is dope.
>>154652146This could be KINO.
>>154652803Still would.
>>154650923Holy cashcrab Batman... the next best thing they announce after the initial announcement of the Midnight Universe is just another variant cover initiative? This is the shit that should get us hyped and interested, really?
>>154652146Sue is flat
>>154653958What do you expect them to announce anon, the books are still 3 months out
>>154653856And rightly so
>>154650958This is okay for an early look, but it needs to evolve fast. That said having a giant spider protruding from the chest makes the usual slim spidey look unavailable.
>>154650923Peter looks awful and I hate it>>154650930Is Ben wearing shades or is he suddenly able to control his transformation?
>>154656017He is wearing shades, I am not sure if he is human or not
>>154656042The silhouettes look different. Maybe he can "ROCK ON" at will, and gives Johnny constant shit for not having legs thus mirroring mainline Johnny's jabs at Ben's disfigurement
>>154656017Seems like that’s from before they were transformed. Ben looks black.
>>154650958Reminds me of dark man mixed with noir
>>154656171I thought so too but Ben looks white on the main cover
>>154656239Wait a minute, is Ben actually The Mole Man?
>>154650956Nice homage to the fly
>>154650923>>154650930I kind of like the monstrous spider growth Spider-Man has at least. Not at all really vibing with what's going on with the X-Men. They don't really feel as different as it felt like they would be. The Fantastic 4 are intentionally being hidden so I imagine they have a lot more wrong with them. Like Reeds being a melting flesh fuck and Johnny probably have burned off his arms or legs and replaced them with robot stuff. Who knows what's going on with the other two.
>>154650923WHO AT MARVEL KEEPS TRYING TO BRUTE FORCE THEIR VAMPIRE XMEN INTO CANON AND WHY CAN NOBODY STOP THEM?
Close enough.Welcome back Rise of the Imperfects.
>>154656239He doesn’t really, but it’s hard to tell since the lighting is weird. I think he might be black due to the bigger nose and lips. He could also just be reminding me of Luke Cage.
>>154650923For fuck's sake.
So what...this is just The Thing but with Marvel?
>>154659414At The Mountains of Madness, but close enough.
