To splash a glass of cold water in the candy people abuse as a signifier of PB's evilness. The candy people aren't really people and their existence is very arbitrary. It isn't as much a sign of how evil she is that she experimented in them. It's that she understands their nature better than we do. We're protecting value into their lives that isn't really valid. Pb smooshes some gummies and then tells them what their personality and occupation is. If they die she makes more. If she has too many she takes some away.
