Does anyone remember the episode where Ulrich was becoming frustrated that Yumi was interested in the other guy, so he tries to show off by diving into the deep end of the pool.Then he nearly drowns, but isn't rendered unconscious by it. When Jim pulls him out of the water he gives him CPR. Because Ulrich is only stunned instead of unconscious he is forced to endure the sensation of Jim basically kissing him in front of everyone. The return to the past gimmick had the side effect of resetting character development of not only the side characters but the main cast as well making them feel very static. Some character development does happen in the later season but in some ways, it felt too little too late. Breakout episodes that broke the mold(zombie ep, alien ep, blizzard, the lake etc) stick in alot of people's minds but those a diamonds in a sea of just ok or mediocre episodes.The lyoko segments that no doubt took up most of the production budget generally are great but seeing the same old 3D environments gets grating after a while. The redesign of the zones and adding of new designs/environments/enemy types improved the later seasons.Code Lyoko is a charming show but ultimately not spectacular. Most of the current interest in the show is fueled by nostalgia so it'll be interesting to see how they try to capture the attention of a new audience while maintaining the current fanbase with the upcoming season
