Well, that was definitely "preppy" in the Mexican sense of the word—a heavy read in some parts, but it was to be expected from a book written by and starring someone I despise.I must say I like how this franchise handles the "born-by-the-golden" theme. They show us that villains who inherit evil empires, like Dark Phantom and Valdoom, are as useless as the children of a politician, while those who rise from humble beginnings, like Mawrie and Ellie, or even Penumbra, are more competent and capable.
Lore highlights of the book>Heed has a little brother. She claims they have a good relationship but she lies the whole book. He’s a normie who seems to be more loved by their parents than Heed.>She loved her dad, but her wording makes it clear he’s dead. So massive daddy issues for sure. Her mom is the typical absent bitch who gives her anything she wants but actual love.>Heed’s grandpa was a radio broadcaster who fought against villainy. Once when she was little, Heed tried to bring her grandpa’s hat to him after it fell, and a bunch of bugs came out of it. It’s implied there’s a connection to Black Hat and his organization, so grandpa may have been evil in disguise or become a victim of BH Org.>Heed is a fan of a female singer who never ages. Same singer who’s with Flug in one of the shots from S2 teaser.>Heed lies about her childhood saying she won at everything, but it’s clear she was a failure at everything and had to be bailed out by her parents all the time. >She lies saying she went to hero school, when in reality she went to villain school with Flug. We are not told how that happened with how spoiled she was, but we are shown a paper that confirms she applied to join PEACE and won a contest. The paper also indicates someone else around her won, but the winner’s name is unseen due to the paper being cut, perhaps implying that Flug also got elected and Heed lied to him about that.>Goldheart has become a billionareFun book, but the Heed persona does get grating after a while. Black Hat Org books are better for how transparently evil they are.
