I can't believe it, man. I can't quite put my finger on it yet, but whatever they're doing this season is working insanely well.

I haven't laughed that hard at an episode in years.

The great animation choices they made this season, even like subtle little perspective shots, really shows that they remembered this is a "cartoon" and not just another stiff rigged cash grab.

The writing was SO good. I genuinely laughed so much at both plots, and I love when the A and B plots circle into each other to tell a full story.

I honestly have way too much to say about how good this episode was.

Each episode has been so good this season, that I almost forgot there's deep-rooted lore.

WHOLESOME SCENES THAT GOT ME:

Beth comforting Jerry in the space taxi. Idk maybe them being high was so funny to me because of how relatable it was. I spent my early 20s being high on something almost every night, and I've been on both ends of the situation. Needing to be comforted and being the one who can comfort someone. This was so beautiful and real imo.

Rick showing up high like "Now you invite me!" and then commenting on being lonely because everyone needs his help, but don't "want" him or whatever. Super sad, super real, and a super vulnerable thing that can come up when you're blasted.

Also, the portal not working blew my mind. That was so funny. How has that never happened before?

Morty and Summer telling Jerry and Beth that they're bad parents was seriously dark and legitimate, just to turn into a joke when Jerry says "Everyone's mean here..."

Dude idk. Them all being high was written so authentically that it just felt so relatable and pure.

I also laughed really hard when we saw Summer and Morty running away from the camp, just to admit that they did get the baby drunk.

I think subversion is my favorite form of comedy and god damn dude what an all-star episode.
