Say /co/ what are some redesigns so bad you literally could not tell it was supposed to be someone else? As a kaiju fan (I admit /m/ is my home board) I decided to track down the history of Marvel's old monsters and I've noticed that in the 2010s a lot of the old guys got redesigns in the Punisher comics for some reason. The Marvel Wikia said that Monster That Escaped from Strange Tales 95 appeared and is likely this guy, but looks nothing like him. Same run also had Grottu in a completely different design (slightly more excusable since he was dead for a while until this), Tragg came back with fucked up teeth, Mighty Oak lost all his leaves, apparently Monstro figured out how to camouflage in a town square, and according to Comic Vine the lava man priest was supposed to be Molten Man-Thing, but I've seen zero evidence to back that up. Point is if you don't know who these guys are in advanced, how would you know they were supposed to be other characters? Have you anons encountered that?

Kind of insulting since he's easily the biggest Kirby monster at 500 feet. That and artists really love drawing Vandoom's monster, the guy pops up in the most random places.

Honestly it's kinda annoying how much Marvel doesn't respect giant monsters and especially it's own catalogue of them. Hell Giant forms such as Hank Pym of Statures also get treated pretty much like fodder also despite how it should be treated as impressive and like they can even the fighting field. Honestly that's why the vs Godzilla stuff was kinda cathartic seeing my guy Goji shit stomp everyone for the most part since usually Kaiju in these books are treated as such an after thought.

>>154717347The Godzilla in that was at least 500 feet tall, sometimes twice that size. Not counting Godzilla Earth, Marvel's Goji is easily the biggest. It's evident in scaling it to the Space Needle and Empire State. Weirdly enough Red Ronin only officially clocks in around 40 meters/131 feet.

I honestly feel like I fucked up in a dumb consumer analysis way by not buying the Monsters book they put it. I was hoping it would actually be a real encyclopedia of all of their notable monsters, but it was basically just a Greatest Hits, plus the monsters their were currently pushing.Maybe Fantagraphics could be convinced to do a big library collection of the 50s/60s pre-FF Monster comics?
