Why are there very few if almost any pure webcomic artists with skill on par with full-time online illustrators like Krekkov or Smurf? How come there's very few amateur self-published online comics with art on par or better than Ramia but without the fucked out release schedule? A fantasy self-made amateur comic that regularly has art as good as pic related would get attention even if the writing isn't exactly the best. The "their art is too detailed for a comic" excuse doesn't work either because there are a significant amount of monthly and weekly manga with art that's just as or more detailed and competent in terms of draftmanship, not to mention the many skilled american artists in the comics industry from back then as well.
>>154718959Money
>>154718959Quality control
Like, a 20 pages bi/tri-monthly chapter with painted art of this exact same quality shouldn't be hard to made if you've already learned how to draw and render in a similar way fro 5+ year I think, but many people who start with amateurish level art never reach those heights even after 5/10 years of working on their project
>>154718959Smut artists deliver one image a week.Comic artist have a build in pipeline and its their full time job.Manga is the same but mangaka are overworked into the ground.
>>154718959why are so many threads in this board started by acting bewildered and asking stupid questions with really obvious answers?
>>154718959The average webcomic artist isn't Krekkov or Smurf-tier because the average webcomic artist is trying to tell a joke, not a storyMerrivius and Marko R get the same clout and financial results as a smut artist, they aren't doesn't need to be "Professional" tier to get what someone like Eigaka is getting>>154719022/co/ has the same problem /tg/ has where it's run by spambots and autists
>>154719014>Manga is the same but mangaka are overworked into the ground. That's why I specifically mentioned monthly series though.
>>154719057Thats arbitrary. The issue is that investing all this time and effort into you story and art only for a one panel sex joke to have more traction. Thats why people capable of doing it choose to enter thr industry and have a secure position with an established audience. And again one is job, the other is a hobby.
>>154718959>The "their art is too detailed for a comic" excuse doesn't work either because there are a significant amount of monthly and weekly manga with art that's just as or more detailed and competent in terms of draftmanship, not to mention the many skilled american artists in the comics industry from back then as well.MANGA AND COMICS HAVE MULTIPLE ARTISTS YOU FUCKING RETARD. Mangaka have assistants, comics have pencilers inkers and colorists. Webcomics from singular artsis who are often busy with other shit don't match the output of 3 full time artists. And for the love of all that is holy can it be drilled into the thick autist skulls of you mouth breathing fuckwits that somebody using a simple style doesn't mean they are incapable of a more detailed one.
>>154719022I'm starting to suspect some autists just make a bunch of thoughtless threads just to get (you)s and are too internet poisoned to say anything with sincerity. It's like OP already has an angle in mind which is why he can't help but phrase his question in this way that's railroaded with faulty premises. He already knows the answer people will give so he has to immediately move the goalposts to say the obvious answer doesn't count. If he actually wanted recommendations for webcomics with a strong emphasis on detailed art he could've just said so instead of whatever this thread is.
>>154719301I'm planning to do a low fantasy/alt history webcomic with a focus on high detail art drawn on paper (likely ink and watercolors, though I haven't really decided that yet) at some distant point in the future, once I'm done with a project that's taking a lot of time to finish.I am not a slow artist by any means, but yeah, what OP is saying just isn't feasible. What I am really not looking forward to is doing backgrounds, I'm not very good at those. I'd love to have an assistant, but I likely won't even make any money off of it, since I've never made any livable money with my art.
>>154718959If they weren't amateurs they wouldn't be making webcomics
>>154718959Webcomics welcome everyone. And art is a craft, it gets better with time, you shouldn't wait until you're good to start drawing.
>>154718959Because most of them are literally amateurs often doing this for the first time or with little experience, this is kind of obvious.
>>154718959>Why are comics by amateurs with little free time who make comics as a hobby for free not on par with comics by paid professionals who's job is to make comics, tend to work in teams with editors and who probably trained under other professionals and have years of experience and connections. You will notice this with other media with maybe the only exception being video games.
>>154718959Voting for whoever puts /co/ posters in re-education camps for shitty bait threads.
>>154718959No one wants to spend so much time on a drawing for little money they rather spend that time on commissions. This is a 1000 dollar drawing.
>>154719641Get your money back.
>>154718959For real though, are there any webcomics with similar art quality to entry level twitter artists or I'm better off looking at professionally published indie series/graphic novels?
>>154720087Kill six billion demons should be a good start.
>>154720087People used to spend long enough doing their amateur webcomics and putting themselves out there to improve to that level but over the years it became normal for recruiters to trawl new webcomics for new artists.
>>154718959>why are amateurs amateurish?
>>154719022Pure bait. Webcomics obviously have a low barrier to entry, and for the most part are a great way for amateurs to hone their skills. Unfortunately there's no money involved, so they don't have the same incentive to meet professional standards.
>>154718959Would something like Girl Genius become even more popular than it was at it's 2000s (?) peak popularity if it was entirely redrawn by TheGoldenSmurf similarly to how Murata redrew ONE's webcomic?
>>154718997Do you draw anon? Or are you just going by what you think is feasible?>>154719014Manga artists also have assistants
>>154719641that looks like a MTG card
>>154721790What does the Goldensmurf offer? While Phil draws like everyone is made of putty and Kaja is too ill to do so. It’s a distinctive style that they have paced better than many comics. Bug only if read by volume, by week it feels like forever.
>>154722737It is. The average cost for each card is 1000 with the condition that artists are allowed to sell prints of the artwork. The less popular option is working on Universe Beyond to make 1500 dollars but being unable to sell prints.
>>154722785>What does the Goldensmurf offer?Thick bitches and bad takes on Twitter
>>154718997you have no idea how much work it is to write, script, pencil, ink, and color all by yourself.working as fast as you could, you'd be lucky to break two pages a week.

>>154718997>20 fully painted pages>in 2 months >all by yourself You could’ve easily started the thread by saying “I’ve never drawn in my life and don’t know what I’m talking about” instead of wasting everyone’s time
>>154723331That's not even counting the advertising side. There's plenty of webcomics that have great art and writing but people don't know about them probably cause they only update once every 2 months due to the workload the creator has ontop of normal life. I realize things suck alot more for webcomic creators nowadays compared to years ago. Maybe 10 years ago you could do a few pages and not update for a month or two to focus on life stuff, no one would bug you much about it and it's treated as 'Oh hey it updated again cool!' when you finally come back. Now? I spoke to my webcomic creator buds about it and they've said you need at least like two years worth of updates built up to get the ball rolling. If you miss too much then you will not get that attention back - it just feels so damn shitty.
