I was hoping it would to diminish the extreme arrogance and exaggeration of skills these movies have unloaded onto him. But it won't.

WHICH movies?

Every movie Doom's shown up in has under stated him to some guy with electricity or vague telekinesis.
IM1 Stark + DS1 Strange sans Time Stone + Ultron Legion would be about what base Doom should be like and would in fact be an imposing antagonist to deal with.

Kneejerk dislike of Doom's concept because of shitty writers and fans is as braindead as people who decide they dislike Superheroes because they're chiefly American or from the big 2.
