The COVID saga was the perfect chance for South Park to have a worthy series finale and retire gracefully, even if it would have been really mean spirited to Cartman, and I lost all of my remaining respect for Matt&Trey when when didn't take it.
They decided to make southpark a forever show with no deeper artistic meaning beyond making money way before 2019
