Remember when they said they ended Ultimate because "A superhero story that end is novel" only to announce its not over in Endgame.They are definitly seething because of Absolute, so Midnight is just there to wait until they get Ultimate 2 on the road.

I just don't get the appeal. Sorry, but the whole "What if... The Marvel Universe was a body horror b-movie" concept just doesn't click for me. I understand the idea behind the new Ultimate Universe as The Maker's pocket universe, I also understand the appeal of Absolute DC ("let's turn edginess and stupidity up to 11 and make it cool"). But what's the idea here? We already had Marvel Noir (which I liked), Marvel Zombies, and so many other things like that.

I don't wanna get into a rant about UXM, but I really want some lessons to be taken from it. Like how scary it can be for kids to wake up to something they don't understand, they have nobody to talk to about, and they become isolated because of it. It's very basic when explaining it, but if you look at the mainline X-books it's been very rare for one of them to deal with that for the past thirty years at least. They're too caught up with their established X-Men lineups to really dig into that sort of drama at length.You could compare it to the original NYX run where the characters had next to no idea what was happening to them half the time and were scared shitless because of it, and they had little or no support from the people around them to help them get their bearings.Kids dealing with the drama of facing danger and suffering loss, and not even being able to say how or why, is shit you see in Stranger Things and SIKTC. People outside of Marvel's regular writers' stable have some concept of this, evidently. And as a premise Marvel's mutants should do fine for doing something with this extremely basic theme. But, instead, another X-men vs vampires story. But Kurt is a priest this time.Anyway, I need to stop rambling and go sleep.
