Most anime characters (I know Avatar is not a Japenese anime but it's still the style) look like white people. It's because of Diseny and wanting to be white they look like that. Look up Japenese art before Osamu Tezuku and you'll see. Even a difference between before and after the Dutch went to Japan. Prior to Western influence. They looked like rascit caricatures aka what they actually look like.

Damn I was gonna say almost exactly the same thing. It's funny how Avatar is a western cartoon with an eastern style that makes it's eastern characters look western. They even seem to realize this and include some less anime-styled characters who actually look asian, they even have an indian guy. The result is that the series can plausibly be said to have representation for almost every race except black people.

Mostly. The only exception we have apart from the Water Tribes are the Sun Warriors, who were very Mesoamerican coded. But there's definitely no european and african based cultures and races in that world.
