They're all failures, they all fucked up their development like the cherubs in some way. Dirk is a self-centered megalomaniac suicidal psychopath. Jane allowed the depression to drag her down to extremist ideas and corruption (by means of Gamzee). Jake is THE Potential Man™ like a transcendent version of Peter Pan and thus to a point, Tavros; he has all the physical and aspect related potential but never acts on them due to spooks living in his head. Roxy might be the only one who actually managed to work on her problems in a demonstrable way: she got off the drink by her own willpower, she settled down with John, had a kid, seemingly she got it sorted out, like Dirk said, she got all that she wanted in the world, a husband, a kid, a normal life. A life that looks put-together on the surface, but in actuality, and in a Void-y fashion... is just a mask. There's something underneath the surface. It surely seems like Roxy ducked out from all her problems, as in, she managed to avoid being defined by them, unlike the other 3 Alphas. She stopped abusing her own mind (through alcohol) and self-hating because she couldn't deal with reality. Just like that. She avoided a loveless marriage, at least until quite a while, until Harry became of age to play the game. And she couldn't be potentially imprisoned by this 'normal life' either, before it got too 'boring' she got together with Calliope. Roxy seemingly dodges all them problems. But is she actually happy? That being said, it's safe to say that I'm biased towards Dirk and Roxy being my faves, mostly because of the meowrails sharing a lot of traits with them.

Here's the deal, you need it only if you want to understand the Meat and Candy things to the full extent since it entirely skips the epilogues meaning if you were picking up from Act 7 you'll be lost for what's up with Dirk, Rose, Alt Callie, and the Two timelines.But BC doesn't actually spend tons of time in either timeline and right now we're all but entirely in the game setting already so really you could just forget the context or go read the wiki for a quick summery about what happened since it gives you all the core stuff and anything deeper you can go read if it actually interest you on how we get there.If you're die hard, you'll read it regardless but if you're really only interested in BC just use the Wiki if you can't be bothered because at the end of the day where the Epilogues end in both isn't really where they start or pick up for BC: Candy is several years from where the epilogues left it and still widely disconnected till 8r8k where they finally have to leave(still haven't shown back up), Meat starts pretty much in a sorta awkward pick up where they're all already on the ship and Callie is possessing Meat Jade(despite already having a second Meat teen Jade corpse to use in the canon path as well with Dave and Aradia); both widely haven't shown up for a while so if someone actively got curious they could just go ahead and go back to read to pre-learn stuff that honestly doesn't come into play for BC since at best it only adresses the whole Ultimate Dirk ideology which is still in BC for the most part anyway. The Epilouges are kinda self contained in some ways. You want a fun fact that is off is how Ult Self kinda acts like a cognito hazard in the Epilouges which is why Meat Rose had to go anyway, but at the same time Candy Jade understood it but went unaffected yet they have Meat Jade in BC also seemingly gaining the awareness but unaffected.BC also forgets Jade's tail that was added in the epilogues
