a little while ago I had to change my psych medication because of heart issues and since then I've gradually become so utterly joyless and passionless it's driving me crazy. I only get the faintest echo of any positive feelings I used to have to the point where I barely enjoy any of the things I know I like. the only emotions I still feel strongly anymore are negative ones. I've just restarted my meds on a lower dose since getting my heart under control but it's doing nothing and this emptiness is just unbearable. There are zero ups or downs. I got through chapter 5 and I simply can't find it in myself to be interested in what happens next, because I know it's just going to be some milquetoast "Jax does mundane things and adjust to being alive again", delivered in chatgpt-like ultra "snappy and tense" prose that doesn't immerse me or make me interested in the characters.It's not some kind of travesty against nature, but it's not very enjoyable and very far from S tier for me. Instinctual Behaviours wasn't flawless writing but it was lightyears ahead and is still far and away my favourite. Even backprop's tower sequence was more enjoyable to read than WfOE so far.
