I don’t mean overtly religious or pro christianity or anything but being a modern American show with a Jewish writers and Dan Harmon it’s just surprising how they portrayed the Smith’s faith as just Christian with no irony, jabs or obscurityThe majority of the funerals are in clearly Christian churches with loads of crosses visible (previous funeral scenes in other episodes seemed to avoid these things, either making it just a generic “faith building” and no visible crosses)There’s also the bit with Rick talks about God giving him the desire to invent and the only joke about it is that he’s different to other Rick in yet another way.Also Morty says “Jesus Christ” a lot which normally he just says “oh my god” or something less specifically Christian.
