bravo Johns
>>
>>154814887
There’s one Johns fag here on who acts like he’s the only thing keeping comics from being woke and gay
>>
>>154814887
His Green Lantern was so disappointing, bros.
>>
>>154814887
IT'S
>>
Is Doomsday Cock as bad as it looks? I haven't read it.
>>
>>154814887
>THINGS *BUUUUURP* DON’T MATTER
>BUT THEY DO
This is literally what happens in the original Watchmen story, but none of you complained about it because the contradicting viewpoints singularly came from Manhattan being used as a mouthpiece by Moore.
>>
>>154815447
It's pretty dumb but it's honestly less stupid than the HBO show.
The way it's used in Death Metal kills the whole thing though.
>>
>>154815572
You aren't saying something profound, that's literally what everyone was complaining about when the run was going, Manhattan was essentially having the same dilemma he had in the original story, it was stale as fuck.
>>
>>154815447
It's bad but not really noteworthy bad, just sort of really banal and what you would typically expect from doing some dumb capeshit event but starring Watchmen characters.

>>154815447
Pretty much what >>154815610 said, the main issue is that Manhattan had inverse character development and it retread the arc from the original but more retarded because all it took was Superman saying it when the whole initial conflict was artificial to begin with.
>>
>>154815572
Noone complained about it because Manhattan actually made a justification for it.
In spite of his world being predetermined, the result of determinations being countless unique unpredictable destinies, like someone so insignificant as Laurie actually being the result of a long tragic history noone knew from before her life, made life appear beautiful to him. He knew the ending to the movie, but now he knew the movie had infinity prequels and sequels all with a new thing happening.
That’s actually something unique to say.
Superman saying everything matters because duuuuuh…it do. And Manhattan soifacing to that without counterargument is insulting to everyone’s intelligence. Manhattan counterargued Laurie so hard that she gave up and admitted at the end that everything is meaningless. Manhattan didn’t even question Superman’s first and only sentence to him (which conveniently retconned away the whole part about him having future sight)
>>
>>154815572
Manhattan was largely wrong and insecure in the original comic. Like he's trying to act human but not quite pulling it off.
>>
>>154814887
i've read most every supplementary watchmen material to the point where wires get crossed misremembering what occurs in what. i don't remember the context of "it's" at all
>>
>>154815718
You had it till that metaphor at the end.
It’s more like he knew the ending to his OWN film. And if he knows everything he himself will do then why care.
At the end he realised other people are interesting too. It’s a very smart and self-absorbed man realising other people have interesting lives he’s never known or thought about.
Like a Scifi guy who thinks there are no more Good books in existence because he finished Dune.

>being used as a mouthpiece by Moore.

It still amazes me to see midwits truly thinking any particular character is Moore's own beliefs. At least you're not claiming it's Ozy this time.
>>
>>154815758
It’s a disguised parallel to Steve Jobs.
>>
>>154815775
finished reading his autobiography
>>
>>154815782
The character that most reflects Moore's mindset is Rorschach, oddly enough.
>>
>>154815805
possible homosexual
>>
>>154815782
No, every character in Watchmen is a product of Moore’s brain, but because Moore is a pretentious faggot who thinks playing the game and hiding his snuff fetish makes him a master manipulator, he pretends to place equal (or equally absent) condonation on the actions of every character in the story. He’s essentially revealing the psychological compulsion behind every leftist who has ever called an “enlightened centrist” a fascist, because for 30 years, he was trying to do the enlightened centrist bit about his own story, even though it’s explicitly Bob Dylanite Marxist horseshit about stripping down the metahuman ego (which might as well literally be him saying “murder autistic men”) with a fundie Batman, a racist gym-rat Green Lantern, and the only powered character in the entire story being an autistic Superman who inexplicably turns his back on his abuse because “LOL okay I guess humans is actually special”. It’s a comic story about hating comics, ultimately. That doesn’t make it worse than a Liefeld comic, but that does make it beneath anything I will ever write.
>>
Johns really never got over Moore comparing him to a raccoon going this his trash. But he keeps embarrassing himself over and over trying and failing to come at Moore like this.
>>
>>154815912
"Touch grass" is overused but buddy, this could be in a museum exhibit on Internet brain rot.
>>
>>154815937
NTA but the idea of an author unintentionally leaving a bit of himself in his characters is older than the Internet itself.
>>
>>154815937
>If I invoke basement-dweller stereotypes at it, it’ll go away!
>>
>>154815955
It seems like you stopped reading that comment at the word "brain".
>>
>>154815960
Stop coping
>>
>>154815960
Yes, probably, because you're not capable of coherent thought.
>>
>>154815912
>but that does make it beneath anything I will ever write
It's a lot better than this comment, so you're not off to a good start.

Was it ever explained why Manhattan killed Pandora?
>>
>>154816058
She was gonna spill the beans that he was planning to kill the Gay Lantern

Idk. I like Watchmen & Doomsday Clock. But I'm clearly in the minority.

WOW REALLY?
WHO COULD HAVE GUESSED
>>
>>154820760
>I like Watchmen & Doomsday Clock.
That doesn't make sense.

>>154820760
But why? Doomsday Clock was pure slop. Let me guess, you like how heckin wholesome Superman is in it?

>DC kicks Johns out
>instantly gets better
>>
>>154815782
The small minded capeshitters can't comprehend the notion of a writer not using characters as mouthpieces.
>>
>>154820728
Johns also used the 9-panel grid tho
>>
>>154823096
Not him, but that's pretty rude. Would you really expect anyone to talk to you more after that.
>>
>>154814978
I thought it was good up til Agent Orange
>>154815718
>In spite of his world being predetermined
it wasn't, that was just his justification for why he should stay around without using his power
he wasn't actually ready to let go of being a man yet and had to continually put boxes around himself

Tom King is more notorious for overusing it. It was even a joke Prime made. Johns just used it because he was aping Moore's style for Doomsday Clock and Three Jokers. King used in almost everything for no reason.
