Featuring a statue of…Bolivar Trask?

Comics in this thread:
>X-Men #34
>Bishop #2
>Generation X-23 #6
>>
Bump if you're reading.
>>
And yes, we now have to deal with the return of Greg Land on interior art again. I have no idea why, but after the Venom War: Spider-Man mini, he just kind of disappeared and only focused on cover art. But then this year, he made his return on some Iron Man ad comic, and now he’s here to plague us again, starting with this issue that was originally solicited to be drawn by Tony Daniel.
>>
>>
>>
>Crimson Commando shifted Lundqvist to take care of other O*N*E stuff instead of the X-Men
I wonder if this was going to lead to him invading more X-Books like he did at the end of From The Ashes, or if this is just MacKay coming up with a reason to why he has been absent for a bit.
>>
>>
I thought that you were going to stay in your civilian clothes when busting down the statue. Now people are going to know that the X-Men tried to destroy it.
>>
…wait, is there a forcefield over the statue?
>>
>>
If you can’t tell by now, the entire issue is Cain punching this forcefield.
>>
>>
>>
>>
>"Because you're not a mutant. And you never will be."
What a good thing then that we're getting an event soon about humans becoming mutants through a virus...
>>
>>
Oh no, the statue talks!
>>
>>
>>
Finally some other X-Men show up.
>>
>>
Couldn't Magik just try teleporting the statue away, or something? No? Okay then.
>>
letters
>>
And now for Bishop.
>>
Last issue, Bishop moved into a unit in Sheepshead Bay, Brooklyn. Because Sheepshead Bay happened to be the very place where he spent his childhood in the future, it reminded him of his sister, Shard, and that tomorrow would be the anniversary of her death. After having a drink with Storm at a bar where he vented about feeling guilty for indirectly causing Shard's death, Bishop was returning home to continue refurbishing it, when he was suddenly attacked by a mutant criminal known as Flamequake. Flamequake revealed that she is a descendant of Brotherhood members Avalanche and Pyro from Bishop’s future, and had traveled to the present with the mission to kill him. But before she could finish him off, she was blasted by none other than a time-traveling Shard!
>>
>>
Well this is an awkward reunion.
>>
>>
>>
>>
>killing the Bishop that has traveled back in time to the present will prevent Bishop’s future
How exactly?
>>
>>
That was easy.
>>
>Shard has tech to teleport Flamequake to an XSE prison cell in the future
Very convenient and efficient, now we don’t have to sit through Shard and him having to watch Flamequake for several pages.
>>
>>
>Flamequake is a part of the Final Brotherhood, and there are two other members
Are they also descendants/mash-ups of other Brotherhood members?
>They traveled back in time to pull of a Terminator-style assassination on Bishop, because they think a time traveler from their era is the reason their timeline exists in the first place
Let me guess, Shard is the one that ends up causing their future instead, thanks to these dimwits going back in time.
>>
>>
Got to fill her in on stuff that has happened.

>>
Another one of the Final Brotherhood show up, and he’s a Blob/Toad mash-up!
>>
>>
>>
>>
I couldn’t really take him seriously with the outfit that he's wearing, did Ahmed really have to have him constantly refer to himself in third-person?
>>
>>
Uh-oh.
>>
And now for Generation X-23.
>>
It’s the beginning of a new arc! Laura and Gabby encountered X-80, an artificial mutant with time manipulation powers. Prior to her death, she tells the sisters to protect the Generated: group of young artificial mutants who were living in Facility 23, a facility specializing in combining X-Genes. Their leader X-Infinite, reveals that they took control of it after an accident killed all the personnel, and are tricking the other Facilities that they’re operating as usual so that supplies are shipped to them, including medicine to treat their condition: their highly unstable powers that could kill them. During a training exercise to show that they don’t need the sisters' help to protect themselves, X-73’s powers end up killing him and severely burning Laura as a result. While she was recovering, she began secretly exploring Facility 23 and confronted X-Infinite while he was experimenting with samples of her skin which he claimed was for treating the Generated’s condition. X-92 teleported both of them out of the locale as the Facility’s forces began invading and captured Gabby and the rest of the Generated. Following after them to the new locale they had been sent to, X-Infinite used the opportunity to kill the personnel and hijack the new locale, revealing to Laura that he had emotionally manipulated her and was the one who tipped off the Facility to capture the Generated so that he can take over the new locale to continue his experiments. A previous version of X-80 appears to Laura and helps free her and the Generated before leaving. Together, they defeat X-Infinite who was about to experiment on Gabby and shut down his operations, but just as X-74 was about to blow up the locale with X-Infinite in it without the rest knowing, his girlfriend X-66 rushes into the blast. The sisters’ leave the ruins and offer the rest of the Generated to stay with them so that they can get real help, completely unaware that X-Infinite and X-66 survived the blast…
>>
>>
>>
>”I’ve decided I’m going to change my name…to X-6-7!”
No you’re not, shut up.
>>
>>
>>
>>
>>
Okay I get the joke that Houser is going for with X-99, but oh dear this comic is going to get dated as hell.
>>
>>
This entire issue has been slowly reusing aspects from LK: Wolverine.

Mission complete! Let’s go home.
>>
But first, a restaurant visit!
>>
>”Can’t you be Generated and mutant?”
But they’re just textbook definitions of artificial mutants to begin with, why are we pretending that they’re anything else?
>>
>Their new codenames are Surprise!, Time Bomb and Port
No offense, but you guys are going to have to change those. They all suck.

Next we-oh. There’s more?

Sorry, I lied. We’re also covering Moonstar #5, since I didn't do it last week because it for some unfathomable reason was never ripped until Friday.

Following the collapse of the Society of the Eternal Dawn in the pages of Magik and the existence of the Nine Realms being forgotten in Immortal Thor #25, the Asgardian warrior Kyron and his cursed sword Dáinsleif escaped their imprisonment to continue their eternal quest of granting all beings an eternal afterlife by stealing their souls, this time using a massive death ritual. The SotED exemplars Kian and Yanisa reached out to Dani to help them stop him, but he ended up easily overpowering her and Yanisa sacrificed herself to let Dani and Kian escape. Knowing that Kyron was looking for artifacts that would amplify his ritual, Dani and Kian traveled to the Western Shandong Province in China to stop him from getting the Nàihé Hunping. Unfortunately, not only did they fail, but Dáinsleif ended up forming a connection with Dani that allowed it to access her memories and find out where her parents lived! Teleporting back to Boulder, Colorado, Dani was too late as Kyron had already kidnapped her parents, and was also looking for the Tablet of Death and Entropy which contained a spell that would complete his death ritual. But realizing that her parents were still alive and that their kidnapping was just to bait her so that Kyron would claim her soul personally, Dani and Kian decided to track him to the Hyrcanian Forest in Iran, using the locations of Dani’s parents to find and hide the Tablet before Kyron could. But the Tablet had become massive and embedded into the Earth following its last usage, and Kyron was already there to begin the last stage of his ritual!
>>
>>
>>
>>
>>
>If Dani wants to wield Dáinsleif and break the ritual, she needs to kill both Kyron and Kian
Oh come on, are you not going to be satisfied with the soul of your previous wielder, the asgardian mass murderer?
>>
>>
>can’t teleport the blade
At least he tried, I’ll give him that.
>>
>>
>>
>>
>>
>>
Oh no, she took the sword…
>>
>>
>>
>>
>Dani offers Dáinsleif the soul of Kyron’s sister for the freedom of all souls
I would have actually liked it if Dani got a magic sword, but I guess this one would just keep nagging her to feed it souls. Ah well…
>>
>every soul that Dáinsleif claimed during this mini have returned to their respective body, including Yanisa
yippee
>>
This won’t last.
>>
>>
>Dani is returning to most likely rebuild and lead the Society of the Eternal Dawn
So she did end up doing it in the end after saying that she wouldn't in Magik #10.

Oh, and Beta Ray Bill(!) makes a last minute surprise appearance.
>>
Next week: X-Men of Apocalypse Omega, Uncanny X-Men #33, Wade Wilson: Deadpool #7.
And that's it! If you liked these, support your LCS or whatever.

Maybe I'm misremembering but didn't Trask have a change of heart or something before he died? Or am I thinking of someone else

so will Dani be showing up in that Queen in Black event now?
>>

Hell, why doesn't Juggernaut just dig around the statue and flip it?

Surprised they didn't try to paste in a Tokon screenshot

How is she even aware of this lingo if she's been trapped in a blacksite program for god knows how long?
>>

I can't get over how fucking awful the art for the X-Office's big yearly event is... almost as bad as the premise...

Jug could just throw that shit into space. All this stupid gay politics and cringe ass fucking soapboxing and they just gave up and left.
I haven't read a contemporary Marvel book in years, sad to see they're as fucking cringe as fucking ever.
>>
>>154823832
Juggernaut is tasked by the Mutant Supremacist Club (X-Men) to destroy a statue of Trask in a city.
>>
>>154823242
>>154823337
Why is birdgirl still on the cover?
>>
>>154824023
That's not the point of the story anyways. Jugg is supposed to come out despondent on all the shit he's done and question why the fuck he's even with the mutants.
>>
>>154823072
>>154823069
Am I a bad person for thinking trask was onto something?

>Reformed super villain Cain Marko is in a fight with an inanimate object in small town America.
>He's even throwing cars, destroying property, trying to knock this statue over
>Nobody tries to stop him while he's there for hours wailing on the thing like a giant baby retard.
Where's SHIELD? where's the super feds? Where's the thunderbolts? Where's any local super hero?
Are the X-Men just diplomatically immune by default now? You can just show up and spend hours trying to destroy a statue if you have an X on your uniform and nobody can do shit about it?
What the fuck is happening to marvel slop these days...
>>
>>154824404
They explain it away with the guy there saying it's just some stupid detail. The question is WHY the X-Men sent Marko on a stupid mission like this because it cannot actually be good PR for mutantkind unless you're a radical.
>>
>>154823406
Feels like a bit of a cop out.
>>
>>154824394
Yeah yeah I know it's Marvel and everything has to return to the sacred status quo. I just hoped Juggs could have a bit more of a heroic arc for a while.
>>
>>154824404
>Where's SHIELD?
Do they even exist right now? I don't think they reconstituted after Secret Empire. IIRC in the ongoing Captain America run Nick Fury mentioned they were basically just him and a handful guys doing volunteer work for him, not an actual organization like they used to be.
>>
>>154824400
Trask himself disagreed with the race war idea. He was horrified by the consequences of his work.
>>
>>154824400
The thing about Trask is that the Sentinel program does make political sense, it just gets muddied because muh slippery slope to genocide, which is always predicated by another mutant villain. It's never just Trask doing it on his own, since he literally built it as a security response to mutant extremists using their powers against people.
>>
>>154824428
Jugg should not be part of the X-Men period. He should be his own thing rather than some dumb pet human that has his moral centre be outsourced to mutant leaders.
>>
>>154824446
Let's be fair Magneto was hijacking nuclear missiles and shit and launching them at the United States, the government had to do SOMETHING
>>
>>154824481
The X-Men would have you believe that "trust us, bro" is all that is needed.
>>
>>154823634
Nope, he realized he fucked up and died trying to stop the Sentinels. Later Bastion brings him back to life and he dies again trying to stop Bastion.
>>
>>154823634
Trask never wanted to exterminate mutants. He's sort of like Alfred Nobel in his creation with the dynamite.
>>
>>154823088

Good to see Greg Land still makin Greg Land faces

He's Kitch now. Like a 00s Liefeld

>Cyclops sends the token human on the team to tear down a racist statue
>Said statue is suspiciously protected by an invulnerable force field
>Juggernaut spends all day punching it while a lady mansplains to him why Magneto is right and why humans and mutants have to genocide eachother
>She also more or less calls him an Uncle Tom who's gonna get thrown away
>Juggernaut explains, contrary to his previous characterization, that he's a retard who needs a strong leader to tell him what to do or else he'll backslide into villainy
>Magik and Cyclops show up and give him a pep talk, I can't tell if it's supposed to be 100% supportive or kina condecending.
My boy finally gets an issue dedicated to him and it's just McKay tearing him down
>>
>>154824310
The thing that really pisses me off is that we don't know who is protecting the stature. I mean it's probably 3K but still at least reveal that shit at the end
>>
>>154823069
>we now have to deal with the return of Greg Land on interior art again.
Something about this looks different, it's definitely Greg Land, but somehow looks less traced. Did the inker do just an insane amount of clean-up or something?
>>
>>154824394
Which is retarded he's said so multiple times in multiple books
>First they come for the mutants, then they come for the rest of the super people
>Maybe if I help people like me do better I'll feel better about all the bad shit I did in the past
Fuck go read the Juggernaut mini
https://batcave.biz/3090-juggernaut.html#chapters
It's a million times better than this book and should have given McKay a better place to start his characterization
>>
>>154824540
It was funny of Bastion to sit him at the big table next to the religious nutjobs, the race warriors, and the literal school shooter.
>>
>>154823097
he's a simple man.
>>
>>154824593
>3K
Why would they do that.
>>
>>154824480
Unironically put him on the Avengers, we need a fucking weird ass Avengers squad with no Carol for once, (don't you fucking reply to me Carolfag) and a bunch of weird B, C and D listers who need a team to shine surrounding Captain America (Steve)
>>
>>154824647
Any position that a character holds that isn't 100% unilaterally agreeing with mutants is put into that table.

They gave you precisely that in Astonishing Avengers and you didn't read it.
