It's a comedy sure but I found that scene scary because many disabled kids, even mild ones are legitimately treated this way. There are certain types of psychotic parents who would love to abuse their kids like this either way, and having a disabled one is basically like winning the lottery, any lashing out at a legitimate grievance can be passed off as the kid just naturally misbehaving.

He was mostly taking it for journalism/production, but he still had to do all the verbal parts of the course, which obviously he sucked at. A couple of the instructors didn't understand his condition and kept talking down to him like he was a literal, drooling retard.The flipside of the scenario, though, is that you probably just learn to ignore how everyone talks to you, and you can clap back at them however you like, since even if they understand it, they'll probably write it off as retarded rambling. Our instructor kept condescendingly calling this guy "buddy" like he was a dog or a toddler, and eventually he started repeating it back to him. Hearing someone with cerebral palsy sarcastically call another guy "buddy" is pretty fuckin funny.
