I assumed that the show creator was a typical self-loathing millennial male with a humiliation fetish. They made Hedgehog a witch, a werewolf, a popular friendly person, a brainy nerd, and a great athlete. They made Oscar a pretty nice guy, who messes up a lot, but usually means well.
