thread for comics that don't fall under the superhero genre

stuff published by the big 2 is fine as long as it's not about superheroes e.g. marvel's conan or whatever

It's pretty good if you don't mind the justified misogamy..

You guys have no idea how surprised I was when I found out the current scans for Johnny the Homicidal Maniac are in poor quality

I shoplifted this book from a hot topic when I was 14 years old.

how original

I remember story timing this when it first came out. Was fun having a thread hit both bump and image post limit

Bone's classic

been reading gothan central, does that sound?

Gotham Central, Hitman, Hellblazer, Sandman, and others are what I think of as Capeshit Adjacent.
It's set in a superhero setting, and you'll see a guy with a cape and his underwear on the outside of his pants, but the characters and story aren't about saving the world or the city or whatever.

Kinda depends on how integrated a given issue/run is with the rest of the universe.
Like i'd say the early parts of hellblazer that don't bring up the broader dc universe at all(besides swamp thing) are solidly non-capeshit
>>
>>154837015
Why has no one actually posted any Johnny comics yet?

I disagree. I think it still falls under cape adjacent. Constantine rubbing elbows with superheroes later on is full cape.

I love my hardcover trade of JTHM

Guess we'll have to wait till a new reprint comes out. I was searching and apparently the last wide release was around 2014.

There are adaptations of Conan that are pretty badass.

Marvel's R&S comics were the only Marvel-related thing of value.

Oh yeah, I also forgot about Mort the Dead Teenager. Somehow I only remember that existed thanks to a certain aiesteron.

I remember reading scans back in highschool over a decade ago. I don't remember the scans being that low quality. Are there really not any good scans online?

Why do these threads never do well?

Most people here only discuss capeshit.
And many of them don't even read capeshit to begin with.
>>
>>154843550
Almost no one reads.

The Prog and The Big Meg have both been solid lately

We have multiple people reading non cape/licensed comics but our tastes are so scattered they can't hold discussion

Ive read some of Bone. it was good but lost me after a while.
anyone read Ralf Snart ? its hilarious.
>>
>>154846544
You got lost reading Bone?
>>
>>154843550
Few people really read comics. I think it also doesn't help that they're too broad of a subject. Hone the subject in a bit to something like knight comics, or horror, or non big 2 heroes or something and it may be easier to keep up.
>>
>>154846554
no, the story became too convoluted to me, so I lost interest.
>>
>>154844686
This is capeshit.
>>
>>154846620
anyone itt have a particular niche they like to collect?
for me it's indie furfag shit(picrel my collection), which has been very hard to come by at my local comic stores.

Why is it that all of Scud’s covers and promo material are awesome, but the actual comic itself is ugly trash?
>>
>>154846980
No.

I despise furfaggotry, so I can't relate.

I don't read these but I will admit I have been curious of them. I always see some pop up in hidden shelves or cases of random booths at conventions. Anime ones mostly but some general ones too. Sometimes they're even given away if you buy some other comics or art books or manga. Always made me wonder how they got there or if they were being handed out by the artist or his friends to help spread the word.

I take it you haven't read much Dredd? Or any of 2000AD's other host of titles?
