How much do you think the subject matter affects how a story is received? Like let's say it's some of the most awful, horrific ideas you can think of, but it's well executed. Would you willingly watch that? Or does an episode of a show become unwatchable after a certain point? I feel like it's not very well discussed, where the story becomes bad. Is it purely from concept, or is it writing quality? Both? Can good writing save an awful premise?

The episode of Dexters Lab where he gets amnesia and Deedee and her friends put makeup on him, let him run around in his underwear and kiss a duck ass.Maybe it’s just me but I always hated that episode because Dexters essentially had a brain injury and instead of helping him they’re just cruel and abusing.
