Now I you guys are chatting about your X-tisms, your Spider-Mans, and your Jean Grey mindrapes but I'd like center the attention to an underrated Batwank series that Amazon/WB pretty much sent out to die with barely any advertisement and on the same day as a blockbuster Spiderman movie no less so enjoy! Remember to download the files and play them via VLC to get the full watching experience so here's 10 brand new episodes of Batman Caped Crusader S02.https://gofile.io/d/tos38V
I was excited for this back in 2022, but watching season 1 after bingeing btas, was underwhelmed.
I also forgot but here's S01 too if you guys wanna catch up with the current season https://gofile.io/d/w6ACTG>>154847706I like the series back when it first aired but I genuinely see why ppl were disappointed when it came out as it doesn't live up to the expectations of BTAS and some of the other Batman cartoons. I will say I don't mind the raceswaps (Babs and especially Harley can get it any day) but the gender swaps of the Penguin and Mad Hatter are pretty foul looking with no tantalizing qualities to them whatsoever. Also the character visuals not to mention the animation are a severe downgrade compared to anything we had in the past and this came out in the same year as X-Men 97 lol. I will not be surprised if this series gets shit canned after this season or the next but hey it was fun while it lasted.
>>154847761>I will say I don't mind the raceswaps (Babs and especially Harley can get it any day) but the gender swaps of the Penguin and Mad Hatter are pretty foul looking with no tantalizing qualities to them whatsoever. It's okay to not want to fuck something. I don't even think X-Men 97 is a very good looking show most of the time, but it's not as pitiful as Caped Crusader. Relative expectations matter of course, but even on its own merits CC just didn't look very good. I'm guessing this season doesn't either.
>>154847670Unless it has hypno/MC, not interested
>killing off Hugo Strange to wank off Joker already Off to a bad start.
>>154847820It has LAUGHED instead
THE LADS
I liked episode 3. It’s always fun when Matches Malone is involved.
Thought this was Grundy, turns out it's Blockbuster
>>154847670Who asked for another season of this trash? It's like the first year of Batman comics where it's generic themed vigilante slop. But instead of introducing Robin and actually getting good it embraces the grim shit. Like that's the goal.
>>154849035The first year of Batman comics was great. I wish this was that, but it's not.
>>154847670nigga this show sucks
This show would be cooler if he carried guns like the early comics.
>>154847670I can't really put my finger on why this didn't do anything for me, mainly because I can't remember much about what I watched. I feel like the show blew its load too early on Harley being an important character as a civilian and a consultant on the Batman profiling, only to wind up becoming a villain by, what, Episode 3?
>>154848769They basically combined Blockbuster with Strange’s Monster Man.
How much Timmshit is in it?
The Roxie Rocket episode is almost painfully boring. They took a fun character and made her a very generic "The Bastards stole my life's work" scientist.
>>154849530can't have sexy girls lusting after men anymore. That's heckin problematic.
>>15484953090s: sexy 40s-style pilot uniform, has a moaning orgasm on screen in a tv-y7 cartoon20s: sexless rocket (wo)man design in a tv-14 cartoonZagging again. "We made it good the first time, so now we should make it bad."
>>154849530The Rocketeer costume and influence was fun, but yes, the overall plot is boring. Also the Terrible Trio is only slightly better than how MAWS portrayed them two weeks ago. Slightly.
>>154849530>>154849560>>154849607How do you castrate Bruce Tiim? I didn't think it was possible. Frumpy, Chinese Harley is the work of a diseased mind.
>>154849436No idea, he’s not as involved this season since he’s doing other stuff. Main showrunner is James Tucker, with Geoffrey Thorne as story editor.
>>154850136He's always been a team player and goes along with whatever's currently in fashion.
>>154847670Thanks for sharing man, appreciate you
I kinda liked their take on The Spectre
>>154847670This show is gaynigger levels of radioactive.
>>154847670Thanks for sharing! Do you know where i can find the English subtitles?
>>154849035That basically is the goal, and that's the exact problem. Nobody wants Golden Age crime stories without the dynamism and pulp slathered in modern sensibilities.
>>154847670Jesus christ that was boring. Just cancel this shit already.
They really don't stop with the name drop homages. Gerry Conway, Marshall Rogers, Rebecca Cloonan,Dick sprang, Carmine Infanitino, Tim Burton, and that's just without writing any down and remembering. There's been more for sure
Good ol Timmy throws us a bone. I do think her shoulders are a little broad without having much muscle mass thoughalbeit
>>154851243Here ya go. I torrent a new batch of the 10 episodes in 265H video format with English subs this time. Just manually change the Italian language to English and switch to English subs on VLC.https://gofile.io/d/quvdHu
People are actually willing to sit through this fuckass show. Not me.
"Who makes donuts at home" gave me a chuckle
I watched the first episode of this season. In general it looked a little better than I remembered the first season looking (though my recollection is not strong), but the CG vehicles and some of the backgrounds are still pants, especially in terms of how characters relate to them. The character animation was fine but there was still a stiffness to the overall mise en scene. I'll watch the rest of the season over the next couple days. It was alright. I still like the inspirations/premise of the show a lot more than the show itself, though.
Mega?
>>154849035It was greenlit as two seasons.
My favorite slampiggy couple
>>154854478The fuck is this bullshit?
>>154851173I’m surprised they even did that. I thought it was going to be like Gotham Central Corrigan who was just an asshole.
>>154847670wow i had no idea it was out before seeing your thread. like >>154847706 said and im sure other people will parrot i was interested but then saw season 1 and was ultimately disappointed. i like the look and general "style" it is going for but some of the plot and new iterations of these characters i dont care for. sad because other than what they are doing with some of these elements i would 200% be down for such a batman show
>>154847761>I like the series back when it first aired but I genuinely see why ppl were disappointed when it came out as it doesn't live up to the expectations of BTAS and some of the other Batman cartoons. >>154855142passion for mediocrity, i guess
>>154847670No thanks
It's no Robin but we got a Carrie episode and it was cute how her dressing up as the Grey Ghost ties nicely into her character and interaction with Batman
>>154849530>They took a fun character Wasn't the Roxy from the TNBA just a adrenaline junkie who committed crimes just to a rush? I believe this new version is appointment to the character and make her feel more fitting of being apart of Batman's Rogue Gallery. Most of half of Batman's villains have tragic origins that drove them into villainy, giving Roxy a new origin that explains her actions that isn't just, getting off by the thrill of it, help her justify being called a villain.
Anyone else felt bad for Des?
>>154856380I guess they want this Batman to be a solo act for the time being before. And besides we haven't seen Dick or Jason or Stephanie who also appear last season show up, so we can either assume that Carrie was fortunate enough to get adopted while the others haven't yet. Batman could still get a Robin. If there's a third season.
>>154847670bit of a board nitpick but why does it feel like DC only uses a single panel for reference whenever they used the golden age joker in the modern day?like, geoff johns did that too
>>154857188Who's Des? Des nuts?
>>154857188I wasn't expecting him to get more focus after he Hulked out, so that was a surprise. It's actually kind of funny how much love Blockbuster gets in animated shows despite not being popular in comics at all. Same with the Terrible Trio.
These threads are so sad lmao
>>154854478why is renee fat
>>154858220The show is sad. I can't believe they made a Batman show boring.
>>154857084eh? sure, a lot of villains are like that, but you still have big names like Joker and Scarecrow that are just assholes cuz they feel like it. sometimes it's just fun to watch an asshole villain be an asshole for no reason other than their own enjoyment
>>154857820Not having seen this, I'm assuming it's short for Desmond. Is Blockbuster in this Mark or Roland?
>>154857397to elaborate on that: even in his earliest issues the joker was saying stupid puns and making shit-eating grins while killing his targetshe wasn’t flashy, yes, but he also wasn’t stone-serious
i'm not planning to watch the show, what's Scarecrow like?
I liked the more serious take on Roxy Rocket and the Spectre episode was interesting.
>>154858766The question in the modern age is:>Why wasn't she fat?
>>154850322>>154850136So, Timm turned out to be just like the Avatar guys in the end? (or worse?)
>>154857084>>154859428Haven't seen the episode yet, but why do I have the feeling they have tried to pull a Mr. Freeze with her? Am I close?
>>154850158The hell is he doing?
>>154859568Lame. This show’s take on the villains is consistently bad.
>>154859456It’s Mark, which is funny considering Roland would’ve fit better. He was the mobster of the two siblings.
>>154859672Roxy was fine, but Spectre was disappointing. It felt like they were trying to do a grounded version of the character and it didn’t work.
>>154854478why are her parents black?
>>154862006why is everyone so fucking fat?
>>154857084None of Batman's golden age villains had tragic origins, they were just bad.>>154857397It was a pretty iconic pose.
Riddle me this! If you aim to give us a shot, we'll riddle you just the same!
>>154856380Why the parents are black? Woke nonsese
>>154862876She's a foster child anon
>>154862914A black couple fostering a white kid is one of those "only in fiction" moments.
>>154862958True, it'd be a white couple and they'd be molesting the shit out of her.
>>154863449I doubt the chances of that are that bad.
>>154863373Can't tell you how much I was grinning like a dumbass when The Riddler finally met his demise by the hands of this random women. Outside of the comics, you normally don't see victims deliver the just comeuppances to the perpetrator who ruined their world. Typically the hero would swoop in the last minute to perform talk no jitsu towards the emotionally unhinged to prevent the act from happening but I'm glad this show didn't use that trope. It also segues the story into the next arc very nicely too.
>>154864638She's not random, that's Thorn, her whole premise in the silver age was going after the gang who killed her father. They decided to make that Riddler instead of the 100, this is a cartoon that will end eventually, not a forever-comic. They already killed Two-Face in the first season establishing that they're not interested in having the same old recurring rogues gallery.
>>154864816I guess when I said random I meant in the eyes of the perpetrator and how unexpected the outcome was. The irony is he's described as a loose wildcard by other characters in the series so it's a befitting thematic end for him.
I liked this take on Joker
>>154865030I like how they made him sound like Conrad Veidt.
>>154856380When the first Carrie scene started I seriously thought I’d switched to a different episode by mistake somehow. Then a lot of her scenes felt like they were from a different show. It almost felt like they were trying to set up a spinoff series with her.
>>154847761>the gender swaps of the Penguin and Mad Hatter are pretty foul looking with no tantalizing qualities to them whatsoeverThe Penguin and The Mad Hatter are not sexy characters to begin with, and I wouldn’t want them to be oversexualized as women either. That’s a classic genderswap mistake, turning an ugly male character into a beautiful woman with a generic hour glass shape. It’s like when tumblr takes a non human character and inexplicably turns them into a pretty twink boy. But also, I would love it if Caped Crusader made a hypersexual male Poison Ivy, just to shake things up. I think it would be a challenge but it might be workable.
>>154865842That's not a mistake. It's a feature, not a bug.
>>154864949i didn't watch the show, but i thought Thorn and Riddler were dating here? just off what other people are saying, i would've assumed she linked up with Riddler just so she could get close to him and kill him
>>154865030>The Joker being more interesting than the other villains for oncetruly, a sign we're in the end times
>>154847706If it's any consolation, S2 is way better.
>>154865963Nah lmao
>>154861397yeah, i ended up watching the episode just to seethe misdirect was conceptually kinda cool but it's kinda hampered by the fact that they obviously wouldn't make Scarecrow anyone other than Crane. and, in spending 2/3 of it misdirecting and making it seem like NotCrane was Scarecrow, it only took away screentime from the actual Crane, so we just get a really lame and boring Crane.also, i'm guessing he's dead at the end? nobody, other than Batman, survived his fear gas so i'm assuming he died at the end. i guess there's nothing to suggest his dad won't take up the mantle of Scarecrow, but still a really weak version of the character. feels like the show just makes things different for the sake of making them different without actually doing anything meaningful or interesting with it
>Blackgate guards kicking the shit out of Bruce WayneFirst Arthur Fleck…. Ragsposting is getting out of hand
>>154866014I think everyone that died in that episode, killed themselves in some way. Like all of them jumped from a great height to escape their imagined fear or something. So conceivably, Junior could have survived if he was detained in time. Also by that point Batman knows the toxin can be cured instantly with milk, so it’d be kinda cruel to just let the kid succumb to a heart attack or whatever.
>Rupert Thorne Lieutenant Edward Nygma is known as the riddler because he riddles the joint with bullets>no riddle obsession just a mobster with anger problems
>>154866400I don’t need him to be a super genius if this is what they want to do with him, but I really would have liked him to make a few more token attempts at doing bad riddles. They could have at least had him trying to solve a crossword puzzle or something.
>>154865030I kinda did but I don't think they pulled through with him in any interesting way. I thought at first his goal was to be like Batman but murdering people, and that he was trying to teach Batman his method actually works. But then in the finale he takes it too far and just talks poetics about being a "teacher", so I don't think that was their goal. Its a neat idea but botched execution.
>>154865030I loved this Joker. I was a bit annoyed at how every other episode had him standing in the shadows to build him up, I don't think we needed that much to know that he's plotting. But his two episodes were amazing. It's been such a looong time since I actually enjoyed the Joker outside of the actual comics, he's had so many weird adaptions the past several years from Suicide Squad and onward. Let Joker be menacing again!
>>154863373>>154864638I like the character but its kinda weird how criminals like her, Harley and Joker end up dealing with the psychos from Gotham more than Batman. Batman can stop people from getting killed at the moment, but the only permanent stop to their crimes is done by other villains killing them. For some time I thought that would be the overall theme of the season, challenging how worthwhile Batman's morals are if straight-up murdering these evil people is more efficient. Thorne and Nigma were only stopped by their deaths; Batman and the police were completely incompetent and failed to stop them, meaning the psychos of Gotham were the only ones bringing true justice. But then they don't really do anything with that, so it seems more of a writing accident.
>>154865842Thorn may as well be Ivy
>>154866671I liked that she was portrayed as a more realistic botanist criminal. She was knowledgeable about plant toxins and venoms, but she wasn't a druid who could control and conjure plants.I liked this season. But Riddler was the only bad spot for me. I like how this show gets creative with its villains, but this guy just wasn't at all The Riddler, should have just been some OC gangster. And I thought a one-shot villain like Thorn killing the main mob boss of the season was a weird decision. But because of the Harley Quin show and the bearded Batman show, I'm thankful for this one serious Batman cartoon that we currently have even if it's not perfect.
Anyone played the game that came out of this show? I wasn't expecting to see Babyface and Music Meister.
>>154866400The BTAS crew had a big drawer full of unused Riddler scripts because they just didn't have it in them to write them in a way that wasn't corny. This is like taking a sword to the Gordian Knot as a solution.
Does Mister Zero count as a Mr. Freeze adaptation?
>>154866987Yes, especially since Freeze used to be Mr. Zero until the Adam West show.
>>154866671I get where you’re coming from, but I really appreciate that Thorn is explicitly a different character. For how much this show changes pre existing characters, they easily coulda named her Pam, but for me it’s just not my Ivy without the eco terrorism.
>>154867076Yes. But they can still do Mr or Dr Freeze if they decide they want two versions.I got a little distracted by how Mr Zero’s thing here is just the plot of House of Wax but with ice instead of wax. Also, interesting choice to have a character with a voice box, but to make no explanation for why he has a voice box. Usually that kinda thing comes with some backstory. I can’t decide if I like this decision or not.
>>154867259Yeah, it was a weird choice. When I first saw the character I thought they were going to use Torque the Nightwing villain.
>>154865842Feminine hands typed this post.
>why would they be home made? Who makes home made donuts? This is stupid but this line bothered me. Is it really that weird to make donuts at home? My dad used to make them on christmas morning. Have you guys never had a home made donut?
>>154861916Okay. Who was this guy?
>>154868003Ragdoll
>>154868034Oh cool
>>154866639I liked him and his overall plan a lot, but just not the part where it turned into a zombie virus spread by biting. I dunno what I would’ve done differently to get from point a to point b, but it felt a little uncreative and like it didn’t fit thematically. I loved the part where the toxin incubates in the bodies and then shoots poisoned gas at people though. It reminded me of the Gloria Ramirez case, and I hope it was inspired by that.
>>154867960Geoffrey Thorne wrote that one, I guess black people don't know how.
>>154868182It’s deep fried dough. Black people love frying things in oil.
How is it compared to season 1?
>>154868283I admit I didn’t watch season 1 right before this to compare. But from what I remember, this season seemed better. I do remember that basically every episode of season 1 left me with some sorta small criticism or dissatisfaction. This time I just chilled and binged it and it was just a fun watch. I was surprised at how many “holy fuck” moments I had where someone was hurt or killed abruptly or in a particularly gruesome way.
>>154854478If you showed me this 20 years ago and told it was designed by Bruce Timm, I would not believe you.
>>154854478Target audience?
>>154862768I kinda wish it didn’t turn people into roided out gorillas.
>>154848769I thought this was Grundy. Turns out it’s Spectre.
>>154865030Him being voiced by Larys Strong's actor was fun. The guy does melodramatic very well.
>>154847670S2 is off to a way better go than s1. Only up to ep5 though
>>154866400Bruce Timm hated writing riddles for Riddler in BTAS, and it seems like he still hates to do it today.
>>154860915What’s with the square bodies?
>>154866400When is a pineapple not a pineapple
>>154868540I wanted more of this. He should have done at least one painfully shitty riddle that wasn’t even a riddle at all for every episode he was in. It was hardly even a joke.
I hope Calendar Man comes back.
>>154868540
some of the dialogue feels dry, it could be the presentation
>>154865030I think it's a nice variation on the character it's been a while since a decent joker was showcased in any way outside the first joker film.
>>154867190It's crazy how synonymous eco-terrorism is with Ivy considering it came halfway through her comic book history and she was still a popular villain beforehand. Ra's al Ghul was an eco-terrorist before she was. I guess that's how they'll distinguish Thorn from Ivy since the producers said they'd like to bring Ivy in if they get season 3.
>>154849035>Who asked for another season of this trash?NobodySame way nobody asked for a second season of Velma, they were just made as two seasons initially.
I wish we got Hattie going full hypno villain
>>154873141>>154850331Wait, I read through the thread that Mad Hatter was also rule 63'd, but THIS is the design they went with? She just looks like a socialite from that era with a thing for bright colors.
I think this was my least favorite design
>>154873061In this case, they didn't. It was only commissioned as one season. Zaslav then wrote it off and work on season 1 stalled. Amazon picked it up and ordered an additional season.
>>154847706I was disappointed after seeing it under it's own merits. It just wasn't good

Is this thing good? I saw it has a good rating in rottentomatoes
You know what bothers me the most about the new seriesThese guys don't show up
>>154879695No, look at the audience score for the first season. The people who hated it checked out so it's just the small number of people who liked the first season who still like this one.
>>154847670Like season 1 there are a couple solid episodes amidst mostly mediocre stuff. I surprisingly liked the Barbatos cult episode
Do you think there will be a third season, or is this it?
>>154880214This is very low budget so most likely
>>154880214Have to wait till next week to get a better idea since it dropped on a Friday, but it's not in the top ten of most watched Prime tv shows unlike Disney's X-Men and as OP said it barely got any marketing, so it may be over.
>>154880214Who knows. Amazon actually supports their animated shows, unlike other streaming services. So it may just get it for consistency's sake. I never hear anyone talk about the Critical Role seasons, and one of them is ending after 5 while a sequel series already released its first season.
>>154876915one could argue that it's not comparable because of how much you can pack into an episode vs a comic, but Abs. Scarecrow's barely actually been shown and he's been extremely fun and entertaining ON TOP of other plots being juggled in like the Robins and Bruce's friends. so yeah, you can very much do a Scarecrow with limited time, here he just feels like a checkbox. like, "yeah we added Scarecrow because it's a Batman show, who else do we have to add?"
