Why didn’t he just impregnate a hundred concubines? I get wanting to be faithful to Katara but the Adam and Eve method isn’t bringing your people back
>>
>>154849997
his final conversation with tagaah somewhat implies that aang has accepted his culture is dead
>>
>>154849997
Why didn't he just use his energy bending to give people airbending? Is he stupid?
>>
>>154849997
Because this isn't a shitty isekai anime.
>>
>>154850139
Name 10 isekai animes where that happens
>>
>>154850119
If Sonam was able to create her staff, why couldn't Aang just make another one later on in his life?
>>
Maybe a new air bender would have spontaniously been born if the avatar cycle got the chance to come back around. Korra was water, Pavi is earth, next would be fire, then boop: Avatar: There's another air bender
>>
>>154849997
Airbending culture as he knows it went extinct after Korra got the airbenders wiped out. AGAIN.

>thread about Aang
>KORRA KORRA KORRA
Obsessed.
>>
>be writers
>want your western fairytale ending nuclear family
>want this despite also being dysgenic LBGT found family obsessives like every other american liberal
>eventually decide you'll "fix" this problem by ruining the lore even further than previously and introducing a deus ex machina that just makes random people Airbenders

The series got butchered in a way that draws weird attention to things you could otherwise handwave and ignore.

The problem of Aang reviving Airbenders barely even exists until you then make a sequel that confirms that, yes, he did in fact spend his entire life doing literally nothing to solve pretty much the single biggest post-war problem. He didn't even produce a bunch of priveleged fuckboi sons who could just do this for him. It's such shit writing.
>>
>Muh nuclear family can't exist if some random person over there is gay
I often forget /co/ has become a /pol/ colony.

Odd

>gay people existing ruins my life
yes
>>
>>154850456
Yes, gay people ruin the lives of everyone they interact with, especially their families and other gay people
>>

She did what?
>>

Serious question, but where they truly always like this? Or did the Korra reception forced them into a rabbithole they just keep falling deeper and deeper?
>>
>>154850456
It’s another boogeyman for people who don’t do anything with their lives to blame for why they don’t do anything with their lives
>>
>>154850117
Before Korra fucked shit up, what was stopping Aang from connecting with past air avatars to salvage knowledge? He knew chunks of it until he ran at 12 but Yangchen would be more well versed in obscure air traditions he didn't get to learn

There are too many avatars to salvage everything and Aang isnt a historian
There is one Historian Avatar who seems to be doing just that asking out all the Avatars before him what life was like but even he cant ask every single avatar since that would take forever
The avatar also isnt infailibel and doesnt know everything
Just because he lived during some interesting time period doesnt mean he knows all the details instantly
>>
>>154850608
Bryan and Mike were always progressive libs, and like the rest of them leaned harder towards insanity as the culture shifted.
I'd post Mike's "Dear White People" pic, but I don't have it saved.

>There is one Historian Avatar who seems to be doing just that asking out all the Avatars before him what life was like but even he cant ask every single avatar since that would take forever
Well he's fucking dead so he does have all the time in the world to ask. Or atleast until Korra gets the previous lives one shot.
>>
if you are the last of your kind you cant just be monogamous. katara destroyed the airbending race.
>>
>>154849997
More egregious is that he only had 3 kids. Aang and Katara got together in their early teens. Even accepting that they waited a while to start a family for whatever reason, they still had a shitload of time to pump out a baseball team.
And then 2 out of 3 of their kids didn't have families of their own. Even Tenzin only managed 4 in a decade with Pema and she was absolutely down to breed. Either the bloodline is cursed or Bryke can't comprehend large families outside of jokes.
>>
>>154850117
He was still leading the air acolytes and letting them larp in his temples.
>>
>>154849997
Aang could never father his people back.
>>
>>154852289
>or Bryke can't comprehend large families outside of jokes.
This is far more likely. Considering Avatar world is post war, rapidly industrializing one, it should be between "low" 4 kids per woman to high 8 kids per woman. If Bryke actually wrote Katara having 8+ kids and other women(like Toph, Suki, Azula, Ty Lee, etc.) having 4-6 kids, he would be accused of promoting breeder fetishims even if such numbers would be more realistic
But nah 1.4 children per woman it is
>>
When did they retcon bending to be genetic? Didn't ATLA specifically refute that idea with the two earth kingdom twins? I thought it was a cultural and spiritual thing that Ang should have been able to revive with teaching, not with a harem.
>>
>>154852648
you need both
>>
>>154852648
It was always a mix of both. Air nomads didn't have any nonbender children because of the spiritual upbringing, but people like Azula are devoid of spirituality and come from prime firebending stock.
>>
>>154850117
culture and bending is not the same thing.

Because the lore, characters and writing are fundamentally FOR CHILDREN.

Azula isn't a complex character that's misunderstood and written with a clinical disorder. She's laymen evil and crazy tropes kids understand. Kids don't really understand genocide they don't understand cultural subtleties and parents don't appreciate realistic genetic needs being depicted. Kids don't understand war. The entire war in AtlA that we see is a series of adventures. War in reality is industrialized slaughter in the modern age and widespread cruelty and destruction in the pre-modern ages that occasionally gets focused into battles and sieges.

"I'm going to fuck hella bitches and make a lot of babies so the genetic abilities of my people are maintained and the order which our world relies upon is secured", Is 100% a legitimate reason to have concubines and tons of babies. But this overtly clashes with the societal norms children and their parents expect to be upheld in stories they consume.

>But Toph has more than one babydaddy and Korra is Bi with a male Ex and a friendzoned Bolin

That they didn't dwell on or ruin with established canon. Asking why the kids show's movie isn't writing in concubines and teaching kids about fictional racial demographic sustainability shouldn't need an explanation, but here we are.

>the Adam and Eve method isn’t bringing your people back

It magically did because spiritual energy, spirit realm, vaatu and raava yadda yadda also fiction also it will if they write it to be.

>The Adam and Eve Method worked very well for Aang and Katara and within 2 generations there were thousands of Air Benders. It worked very well because it did, yup.

See? It worked. It worked great.

>inb4 a smartass writes in it didn't

>Btw the Adam and Eve method worked in this canon and this canon is independent from all other canons while also superseding all other universes canons, and this is true because I wrote it and I wrote it first.
>>
>>154853286
And that pic is related, that's what ancient warfare was, brutality, cruelty and violence. The war we saw was children playacting at war, because the show is for children. The writing is for children. And no matter how many years pass the fundamental bedrock of the entire universe is meant to be understood and consumed and appeal to children.

So no Aang concubines.

fuck off.
>>
>>154853286
Even as a kid I knew Aang and Sasuke would need a lot of children to rebuild their people.
>>
>>154853286
>Because the lore, characters and writing are fundamentally FOR CHILDREN.
This is the foundational problem with LOK. It tries to depict comlex themes that they, in fact, can't properly adapt because they're lousy writers working within the constraints of a heavily sanitized medium.
Could better writers have worked around the limitations? Yes. But that is something LOK just didn't have.
Also Carthage fucking deserved it.
