science or magic?

Science is just magic you pretend to understand.

Nope

In Marvel this is true. Iron Man is 100% using magic to create and use that mech suit. Fake nonsense science in fiction is just magic.

It's all magic at the end of the day, it's just "science" flavored magic has technobabble. I would argue science in cape comics is softer magic than magic magic.

Science is cool and all but waving a stick, reciting a latin phrase and having administrator access to reality is pretty great.
>>
>>154851751
Science is rejecting that a soul exists and making stuff from that premise. Magic is acknowledging a soul exists and making stuff from that premise. So im not being poetic or vague when I say its the same thing but just with different assumptions.

Science is just what medieval people called magic.
Therefore, science is magic.
Therefore, magic.

It's not the only time that team was taken down by one person. Ikon did by exploiting their strength only dominance and used it against themselves. Also she spent every opportunity telling Quasar that she wanted to fuck him. I was so disappointed to find out that she looks like a normal human woman underneath. Still would though.

Quite the opposite. In the Old Testament, sorcery is seeking temporary powers through dealings with false idols and demons. You are quite literally selling your soul and is barred from heaven if you practice it. Magic operates the same way in fiction too. You are either contracted or borrowing powers from kind of demon or god, in the price for your soul. Classic Dr.Strange used to be called Master of the Dark Arts and Nabu merges with your soul, stripping your ego into becoming Dr.Fate. Technology is the Tower of Babel, mankind’s hubris of trying to obtain eternal life. Magic is straight up dealing with the devil and other evil beings

The Bible and by extension LOTR will always be the best interpretation of the Magic/Science dichotomy.
Science is understanding God’s creation and wielding that knowledge properly, resulting in speaking to and moving mountains, gunpowder and technological advances far beyond the time. Magic is completely bypassing God via dark forces to shortcut into the result you want.
>>
>>154851762
Magic is making stuff happen through willpower alone.
Science is making stuff happen by building something to harness the power of natural forces.

For example:
A man with telekinetic powers is using magic, not science. Even if you dress it up in scientific terms.
A man who builds a device to store and manipulate mana is using science. Even though his machine deals with a magical force.

Magic & Science in stories are similar in a sense that one is fantasy BS & the other is SF BS but they are supposed to function differently. Modern fiction sucks because they treat magic like science and science like magic. They think that evolution is like the Force or superpowers in general like sapience is at the top of the tech tree. And Magic smartphones are dumb. At least, make them stolen reverse engineered muggle tech.

A good writer knows to establish the difference between magic BS and Science BS even if it is a bit arbitrary. A common way is by making it about perception but I personally hate it. I don't like that idea because a lot of problems in the world are caused by people believing in something that is convenient to believe but is simply not true. If we can change reality by just believing, then we wouldn't have so many problems. If I were to describe Magic to me in 1 word, it would be "Cheating". I don't mean that it's bad but it's fundamental nature is breaking rules/finding loopholes. The "Rules" of Magic are more like the spirit of the law thus the hubris of using evil magic for "good" goes punished.

Rick and Morty uses an extremely soft sci-fi system which is basically science. I came to the realization that the Japanese equivalent is Doraemon which is for actual children instead of the mentally deficient manchildren audience that Rick & Morty has.

When you stop to think about it, science is sort of magic.

Your computer is made of stone and metal, and projects images and lets you communicate with peopoe afar. It rven has inscriptions on the chips.

I’m not the one who can’t differentiate the differences between magic and technology. The fact that you called anything unexplainable ‘magic’ is proof your brain is stuck in the Middle Ages. Read a book for once

Tell me a magic system that doesn’t deals with demons or supernaturals. I’ve covered western media, but even Japanese people knows that. Fairy Tail, Dungeon Meshi, Beserk, and Black clover all have their roots in Dark Arts. Magic is inherently evil

There are loads of magic systems where magic is internal and doesn't have to be granted by supernatural beings. Including Fairy Tail and Black Clover.
Sure, there are demons in Black Clover, but they're not the source of magic (at least I don't think they are, I haven't watched the whole series). They're just baddies for the protagonists to fight.
>>
>>154857908
>Magic is straight up dealing with the devil and other evil beings

Natsu and Gray got their powers from Dragons and Demons respectively. Asta and the Wizard gets their powers from contracts they made from devils (Time and Anti-Magic).

Dungeon Meshi is less direct, but Mana comes from microscopic spirits who is metabolize Mana in the air. To use magic, one can use the surrounding spirit to cast different Spell. Mana comes from Demons, beings who came from a world of infinite energy. Inside Dungeons, they metabolizes desire and release Mana into the air. They have so much excess magical energy that they can empower anyone with reality warping spells.

Tl;dr magic traditionally comes from demons or other supernatural beings. JJK, Naruto, Bleach, and YuYu Hakushu has a combination of contracted and bloodline magic system.

Most magic users in Fairy Tail and Black Clover didn't get their powers from an external entity.
You're talking about exceptions.
