Probably because she was created after six movies they probably had people mention her between the events of the end of the sixth movie and the beginning of it of people who are on screen but since he was an invented for the franchise yet we don't ever get to hear any of it.

Okay I get that, I was thinking more like how ROTJ has that "what I told you was true from a certain point of view" as a reason why Obi didn't tell Luke about his dad in the first movie. Just a line introduced to deal with the fact that the plot wasn't finished yet so characters acted weird
