What do I mean by that?Well, we all know cartoons lately are in decline. No studio is really making much anymore. Animation jobs are also hard to come by, meaning a vast majority of people hired are 25+ years old.It is simply impossible for someone young, inexperienced, out of college to get a job in animation.The decline of the studio structure, of course, led to indie cartoons, right?Well, lets look at the most popular studio, Glitch Productions.The Digital Circus: 31 year old creator.Murder Drones: 30 year old creator.Gaslight District: 33 year old creator.Gameoverse: 39 year old creator.Glitch Productions, does not seek out young talent. Much like other studios Glitch favors experienced artists, meaning MOST people working for their studios are over 25 years old, have a family, etc.Why is this a bad thing?Even with the rise of indie animation, there simply aren't enough, if any jobs that a young person can get to enter. For every young person that tries to get in five more people that already have years of studio experience will apply.This of course, simply means, there will never be a Gen Z cartoon.There is ZERO studio out there willing to risk real money on a young, inexperienced artist with dreams of entering the industry.And as long as things stay like that, the animation industry might as well die because this will inevitably lead to most current talent becoming old, while no new talent enters.
