>>154873691You want your antagonists to be seen as a threat, so you have them put on a good show of competence and being imposing in their debut. However, the antagonist winning almost always means something really bad would happen: killing or otherwise disposing of the hero, hurting a lot of people, taking over the world, etc. etc.. So, the villain has to lose whenever they show up, but this means they'll inevitably start to look more and more pathetic. You could avoid this by escalating things, but that has its own problems. Another issue is that each time they appear, the writer(s) will have them change their exact methods, which means the audience gets more of a look into what makes them who they are, which leads to them losing their mystique.Every antagonist in Danny Phantom had this problem, but it's not a problem exclusive to it: you see it in a lot of action shows. The more appearances a villain makes, the more likely it is that they lose their edge and the audience starts wondering why they were ever supposed to be a threat in the first place.
