One of the biggest issues with modern comics is the lack of normies actually impacting the characters and them having to manage that shit. Everyone is super powered these days and it's very lame.

Amazing had the best traditional spiderman and Stone's Gwen Stacey was MJ all day and had better villains...well Shocker was good. So spiderman's traditional everything was done in the movies and the comics are poison now so they went with making him Miles adjacent and it worked.
