Why are webcomics more popular than ever in Japan and Korea but dead in the West? Is it an iq thing, where the Anglophone internet is becoming dumber and browner, incapable of producing and uninterested in consuming, whilst the asian net stays the same?

>>154874721You want to know the weird part? Despite there being tons of Korean webtoons, they either get adapted into live action or anime. Shame too, because I was hoping Korea could be known less as a country that works on outsourced animation.
>>154874721Some of the highest paying Patreons are for webcomics. Even outside of that, a lot of webcomics get a ton of traffic and even merchandise. Penny Arcade used to be massive and spawned an entire series of game conventions. Webcomics have and will always be a big part of the west. But there's a lot of webcomics these days so it's hard for newer ones to get as much success.

They can animate stuff ranging from insane spumco-styled animation to something more anime-styled.
