My favorite part of this film as a kid was when the living furniture scared the fuck out of the mob. It's an alright movie, but I never got why some people (like Ebert) saw it as one of Disney's bests.

Gaston was not a guess in her house. He forced his way in even though Belle made it clear she didn't want him there. Belle was a guest(albeit forced) in Beast's castle and directly ignored him telling her to stay away from that part of the castle. His reaction was justified.

Or you could have said Gaston got thrown in mud while Belle almost killed Beast. Gaston was also going to send her dad to a state run institute run by a corrupt warden. He would have been drugged or worse while being pretty much impossible to save. Beast kept him in a pretty big prison cell and could just let him go whenever. No way Belle was getting her dad out of the looney bin ironically.
