Previously, Anya Corazon had taken the name Spider-Girl and with her new name and new costume continued trying to fight crime. However, Red Hulk going on a rampage led to the death of her father with Anya being taken in by her friend Rocky, whose father had decided to rent the two girls their own apartment. Despite her sadness, Anya continued trying to be a superhero which included battles against Ana Kravinoff and the Hobgoblin. She'd also gotten involved in helping the Young Allies and Secret Avengers in Colombia which led to both groups having to fight Onslaught who was using Rikki Barnes as a tether to regain his form in the main MU, leading to her best friend's death as Rikki had Gravity kill her in order to stop Onslaught.But she mostly got drawn into the situation with Red Hulk, who he learned only went on his rampage because he'd been driven crazy by a drug as he and Anya's father had been investigating a secretive organization known as the Raven Society. Anya, with the help of Red Hulk and Spider-Man, managed to bring them down and rescue Rocky and her father who the organization had kidnapped. And during all of this, the now depowered Spider-Girl suddenly found herself developing powers similar to Spider-Man's...Today is Spider-Island: The Amazing Spider-Girl #1-3.Previous >>154941590

Why is Anya acting like this is normal. The Wasps weren't bug monsters, they were normal superhumans. This should be freaking her out because the only explanation would be that they'd been transformed into bug monsters.

>they have a monster queenYou know, literally everything about the way the Wasps are portrayed in this story aside from the "Wasps" part of their name and them being enemies of the Spiders is completely incorrect. Even the name is wrong (it's supposed to be Sisterhood, not Society). It's like Tobin and whoever the editor was are writing a story but without having read the previous comics that were entirely centered on this conflict (to said book's detriment) so despite being a story intended to close out the Spiders vs. Wasps thing which was long dead anyway, it makes no sense because this is clearly not even remotely the same group from her previous ongoing or Amazing Fantasy.

And that finishes things with this and most of Anya's focus. She'll get one more bit of it during a Young Allies/Avengers Academy crossover but really in the comics she basically just kind of goes back to being irrelevant until getting dragged, and trapped, in the Spider-Verse nonsense.Next time, it's X-23 #1-3.

>>154955544Gravity's use almost exclusively comes in books that McKeever wrote after the whole debacle with killing him off in his second appearance. Outside of showing up in the last arc of Gillen's Young Avengers which involved a ton of younger heroes (so glorified cameo) he basically hasn't appeared in anything in like 15 years. I don't think Toro's appeared outside of Young Allies either and Rikki obviously got killed off, then brought back but has been sitting around on the bench ever since. Firestar's obviously a special case since she was well established long before that book.Anya's the only one who they use off and on and I would assume it's because she's a latina more than their actual interest in the character. She needs a writer who's actually familiar with the character and willing to do something with her as opposed to having her just hang around uselessly.
