hey /co/, my local is having a massive clearance on this particular run of DC paperbackswhat are some essentials I should not miss outside of the obvious Alan Moore and Frank Miller stuff?
>>155001818Of the ones that I know of, Court of Owls, Gotham City Sirens, Hush, All Star Superman are sone I for sure recommend.I confess, to give a better list of what you may want, what's available? What they got?
>>155001818I wouldn’t consider it an essential, but Batman white knight is a cool elseworlds book. V for vendetta is also well written
>>155001915>Court of Owls>HushIgnore this man.
>>155001915they have a big wall with all sorts, lots of duplicates too, but as it's a clearance it's all first come first serve so I guess I'm just asking for what I *should* be keeping an eye out for if they still have it when I stop by tomorrow before work
>>155001818All Star SupermanSuperman: BirthrightBatman: The Long HalloweenWatchman, I guessNew FrontierThe Flash Rebirth, maybe? 12 issues, seems like a good deal, but I have no idea if it's good.Catwoman: Trail of the CatwomanSuperman Red Son and Gotham by Gaslight if you want to check out else worlds, but they are on the smaller side.
>>155001818Just buy everything that is more than 180 pages and it its like 9$
Wonder Woman stuff by Grant Morrison not worth it, then?
>>155001818I hate you fucks and your blatant shilling of DC crap. Drop dead.
>>155004315
>>155004048I haven't read any of the Earth One stuff, I dunno.>>155004315Fuck off, loser, go back to your pedophile containment threads.
>>155004315>>155004949Here's why people think you're shills: you're instantly hostile and you obviously don't contribute to comic threads aside from these regarding products and new storytimes. Contribute more to other comic threads on the catalog, be less accusatory, and you won't be as suspect.
>>155004048I'd suggest reading it before buying it, it's not one of his better works, or one of the better Earth One stories. But all the other stories by him in the collection are great picks. Arkaham Asylum, Batman & Son, All Star Superman, We3.Gotham Central and Gotham by Gaslight also pop out to me looking at the list.
>>155005699Is the Arkham Asylum one actually a good pick, though? Putting a comic specifically carried by it's art in a format where that art is smaller and harder to see seems counterintuitive.
>>155005190Why the fuck would dc come here to shill to like 7 dudes you schizoid
>>155005742Just depends, are you ok with dropping $30 bones on the regular sized one, or do you just want a $10 version
>>155005190>you obviously don't contribute to comic threadsHow the fuck would you know? There are no fucking usernames here you schizo psycho.
how come Killing Joke isn't part of this series? some rights issue or something?
>>155007315It'll probably pop eventually, they have a lot of Batman already.
>>155001818Even at full price they're cheap enough to just take a risk. think for yourself.
>>155005774You tell us, shill. What's the point of you?>>155006406We can tell.
>>155007315its pretty short for a compact. you'd have better look including it with a "DC Stories of Alan Moore" collection
>>155001818OP, is your store specifically doing a clearance sale of the Compact Comics line? If so, here's what I recommend getting:The Authority: RelentlessBatman: Long HalloweenBatman: Gotham by GaslightBatman: White KnightBatman: Dark Knight ReturnsCatwoman: Trail of the CatwomanGotham CentralHarley Quinn and Gotham City SirensAll Star SupermanSuperman: BirthrightSuperman: Red SonSuperman/Batman: Book OneWonder Woman: Earth OneWonder Woman: Blood & GutsThe New FrontierWe3There are some other comics in that line that are good, but I think the compressed format hinders the art (ie Batwoman Elegy). Some of my recs still should be appreciated in big size printing, but the art is clean and colorful enough to not get too hurt by the smaller sizeif you're getting these small books on first come first served clearance, I would grab everything I rec'd.
>>155005742That's why I've been holding out on getting a copy of All Star Superman, to just get an Absolute. And since it's an evergreen title, I've been fucking around about it for about a decade.
where the marvel shills then
>>155010669Busy with MCU shit.
>>155009754the deluxe editions are a good middle ground between a regular tpb and an absolute
>>155009754I think absolutes are mostly a scam, but ASS seems like a good candidate.Pretty much the only books I'd spend the money for would be Moore's Swamp Thing.
>>155012214I got Sinestro Corp War and Infinite Crisis as Absolutes because they were cheap(one was like, 90% off on IST and the other was at Ollies), but when Multiversity came out with a Deluxe edition in 2015, I decided that it's definitely the sort of book they'd put on the Absolute line, so I waited for 7 years until it did in 2022.Otherwise Deluxe editions are the gold standard. I've got a Deluxe Watchmen, and I was shocked at the quality of it, it's printing is almost as good as one of the Archive Editions, and those are so good I honestly cannot wrap my mind around it. It's like someone printed in 4k.
