Why is this a harder franchise to do new stuff with than Looney Tunes, Tom and Jerry and Scooby-Doo?
Because of this piece of shit.
>>155031428The other franchises are very adaptable to new formats, contexts and settings>Looney Tunes - Ensemble of very adaptable characters who can and have appeared wherever, whenever >Tom and Jerry - Simplistic cat and mouse chasing that can easily be expanded upon >Scooby Doo - the mystery and locations of such can constantly changeFlintstones was a set prehistoric time period piece that was just a Honeymooners ripoff. What can you even do to make them relevant or in modern contexts? How can you expand upon this concept?

>>155031542>A modern stone age familyJust make them more modern but set in the stone age
>>155032135They could do a sequel series where Pebbles and Bambam are grown up and it's about the beginnings of the bronze age.The stone age parents could be like the boomers/genX and the bronze age kids could be like millennials/zoomers. You could milk the differences between the generations for a bunch of classic sitcom stories. Basically a prehistoric All in the Family
>>155031542On top of this, Flintstones exists in a weird nebulous area where no one can really agree if it's more for kids or adults nowadays. When it debuted, there was a lot more overlap, but nowadays it's viewed more as a kid's show that doesn't do too well with kids.Kids can identify with ageless cartoon animals or cool teenagers more than a middle aged man.
>>155031558>bird powered ipadThat's literally one of the main characters in Yabba Dabba Dinosaurs
>>155031542Instead of making that overrated sitcom with the Looney Tunes they should’ve just made a FlintStones cartoon with the same style of comedy. The Looney Tunes Show was just another attempt at making LT le hip and modern again when in reality a concept like this is made for a Hannah Barbera property.
>>155031428I'm kind of glad they don't touch the Flintstones because if they did it'd just be another raunchy toonboom rigged sitcom.
>>155034856Didn’t Seth Macfarlane plan on rebooting The Flintstones a decade ago? They also tried a rebooting it more recently with a spinoff called "Bedrock", which I would assume was cancelled due to how badly Velma was received.
>>155034833You are overrated
It's not necessarily harder, Warner Bros just chooses to milk the shit out of those threeWhen they closed Hanna-Barbera in 2001 and moved their stuff from H-B/Turner to WBA they really started to market the shit out of Scooby at the expense of every other show
>>155034833So kinda like a tv adaptation of the DC comics then?
>>155034951
>>155031428it's seriously not all that funny
>>155034833The Looney Tunes characters can fit in any concept and that is why they work. They are way better personalities that can carry any media. If you think it was underwhelming with them the same thing but with Flintstones would be much worse
>>155037169The Flintstones can be funny in a modernized way though, just look at the DC comics.
>>155031428There's a high risk in destroying the original show's integrity in order to make it appeal to a modern audience. With it being a more family friendly cartoon sitcom that tried to also appeal to adults at the time, it's effectively a little too mature for modern kids, but also a little too kiddy to truly appeal to modern adults. For a revival to work, they'd either have to make this show especially wacky, or much more mature, and Seth MacFarlene already tried to do the latter a long time ago, but it fell apart and never got syndicated.
>>155031428>this has absolutely no connection to my, or anyone else i know's life.
Because Flintstones at its core is not a kids show and it's hard to adapt it into one. These sorts of all-family sitcoms aren't really done anymore, certainly not in an animated format in a post-Family Guy world.
>>155034759>Cancelled before the first episode was even done productionStrong Bad hosting Some Show on Animal Planet at least made it to the first commercial break.

>>155031542i'm surprised that they STILL haven't done a "the flintstones get transported into the modern world" story outside of that one billy and mandy episode
>>155041490i guess there was the time machine episode of the original show but they did other eras too, i want a whole special of them being stuck in modern times
The Flintstones is just a 1960s sitcom that happens to be animated. Why should it be any more a "franchise" than Bewitched or I Dream of Jeannie? Trying to make Flintstones relevant with modern kids is weird.
>>155031428That's the thing with the Flintstones, because these aren't exactly the hippest characters -- they're married boomers, and there's basically one fucking joke, in that modern technology is all powered by dinosaurs. When I can unironically say that Scooby Doo features a cooler cast of characters, you've got a serious problem with updating them.
Unironically a Flintstones reboot geared towards an older, or even adult, audience has the potential to be great but for some reason they insist on making kiddie slop (maybe because Fruity Pebbles still sells? Idk)I'm morbidly curious how that Seth MacFarlane reboot would've turned out but I absolutely wouldn't want Seth MacFarlane making an adult Flintstones. Just kinda strange that it never happened.
>>155041546This. Just make it more adult focused. Fred and Barney drinking at the bowling alley. Wilma and Betty having their own "housewives try crazy shit to keep themselves entertained" adventures. No Pebbles or BamBam yet. You can even keep the 50s Stone Age analogs, because it will seem appropriately anachronistic.
>>155034933>Warner Bros just chooses to milk the shit out of those threeThis is true
>>155031542> Simplistic cat and mouse chasing that can easily be expanded uponNo I can't
