Pic-related is boring story-wise. It's a cool piece of animation history, but the writing is generic as shit. Even had Williams finished it, it wouldn't have made the amount of money that went into producing it.

The Thief doesn't really have anything it can offer to an average Joe who'd go and see it with his family in the 90s and then be nostalgic about it years later.Roger Rabbit worked because of both the clever writing and excellent execution, one can't be separated from the other.
